Culture Wars: The Shocking Slide of California

in #politics6 years ago (edited)

Hey folks!
Greetings from North Texas where the heat is rising and the sun
is shining but everything is cool. I just heard about this odd bill
which passed the California legislature recently and wanted to
let people know what it is and what it says.

It's remarkable to watch California move more and more to the
Left. Just when you think they can't move any farther to the Left
they come up with another way to do just that such as with this new
bill.

It's AB 2943 and it puts severe restrictions on programs that
help change a person's sexual orientation. This thing specifically
bans any "advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual
orientation change efforts with an individual."

So in other words, if someone has been struggling with their own
sexual orientation and needs help though counseling to deal with
the issue then they are pretty much out of luck!

The reason this bill first got my attention was because I saw the
headlines which read that California may be about to ban the
sale of Bibles.. and I thought NO WAY!

This bill doesn't do that but it gets dangerously close.
People need to keep close watch because a bill like this could
be amended in the future to do just that because it could
theoretically be twisted to have that meaning depending on
the judge and we know that California has some doozies.

You have to ask yourself how long before they come out with an
outright ban on any books which they consider discriminatory?
That prospect is alarming and it's hard to imagine we're talking
about the United States here.

And is there any book which they see as more discriminatory
as the Bible?

Why they passed this bill is a mystery to me because it denies
help to people struggling in the area of sexual orientation.
Apparently the legislators see that as a threat, they are afraid
someone is going to be what....helped?

It's not much of a stretch to see why Conservatives are
concerned about this bill, the law makers don't seem to like
the Bible very much because there isn't much grey area on
the sexual orientation topic.

Why This Matters

This matters because for some strange reason when some-
thing begins in California, culturally speaking, it isn't long
before the rest of the country follows. It seems that most trends
start there and spread.

Personally I don't think California can keep going down the path
they are on much longer. Their crazy high taxes, oppressive
regulations and out of reach home prices are driving Californians
out of the state at the rate of about 111,000 each year.

By the way 60,000 of those are coming to Texas each year and
I'm not sure we want them here but that's what we're getting.

California is 1.3 Trillion dollars in debt and all they want to do is
keep raising taxes so something has to give sooner or later. I
think the people will soon reach a point where they start demanding
large scale changes in policy from their politicians and once again
The Golden State will be Golden!

Have a great rest of your weekend folks and may God bless you all!

Californication may be about to witness God's wrath. Got a bad feeling..

I heard that. Actually I have had really bad feelings in the past and with earth quake
scientists, I don't remember how to spell their actual specialized name, saying that they are
overdue for another major quake....that makes me wonder.
However, I think you will see things begin to change there. I mean for the better.
I refuse to think that she can't be turned around, got too much going for her.
they just need alot of new people running the place! shouldn't be a problem!

5.7 last night in southern CA.....

dratts! Well what's interesting is that the Northern half of the state is conservative aren't they? But they don't have the numbers. Still I stand by my opinion, based on nothing, that the Golden State will somehow be Golden again in the future, in the near future. in our lifetime. I have faith! lol

That, my friend, will take a God-sized miracle, and nothing less.

exactly. that's why I'm using my faith! They have so many great things going for them that even though their politics is wacky and they are a financial basketcase I believe we will see things turn around or start turning around in a few years. If I was a betting man I'd bet on it. not sure why but that's my stand.

I hope you're right, but I am just not optimistic...

no logical person would be!
