Cop Who Did Nothing to Stop the Parkland Shooter is Getting Over $100,000/year in Pension

in #politics6 years ago

Weeks after the February 14th 2018 school shooting in Parkland (FL), Broward County sheriff's deputy Scott Peterson retired with a cushy $104,000 annual pension. He is the infamous deputy who stood outside the school rather than go in to help the defenseless children as the shooting was ongoing.

President Trump also called Peterson a coward at a press conference, and called the performance of his and other law enforcement officers "disgusting" in response to the school shooting. Trump said he would have run into the school even if he didn't have a gun. 73 state Republican lawmakers asked Gov. Rick Scott to suspend Peterson for "incompetence and neglect of duty."

The Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said Peterson should have "addressed the killer, killed the killer," since deputies are trained to "engage active shooters," adding: "sick to my stomach. He never went in." Peterson resigned to retirement soon after.

Records from the Florida Department of Management Services show that Peterson is due to collect a whopping $8,700 per month, which over $104,000 per year as part of his lifelong pension. Not only that, but his health insurance costs will be 50% covered by tax payers.

Peterson had an annual salary of $75,600, but made more than $101,000 his final year due to overtime and other compensations. He is a 32 year veteran of the Broward Country Sheriff's Office, since 1985, and was the school resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where the shooting occurred, since 2009. The pension is calculated using an average of the five highest paid years in service. That average is then multiplied by a percentage based on the amount of years worked.

Law enforcement officers can retire after 25 years of service and get 75 percent of their average 5-year high salary. A 3% multiplier is applied for each year worked. 25 years times 3 gives 75%. Other public workers don't get the high-risk 3% multiplier, but usually get a 2% multiplier.

Officers are supposed to be engaging in high-risk situations and are putting their life on the line. But is that what Peterson did at the Parkland shooting? If the job calls for putting your life on the line to go help others, one might expect an officer to go put their life on the line, especially to save defenseless teenagers in a high school. Peterson failed to do the exact thing that was expected of him when the moment arose.

His neglect of duty doesn't factor into the pension payments though. The law only allows pensions to be revoked for felony offenses that "breach the public trust", specifically embezzlement, theft, bribery, and child sexual assault. His actions might not break the letter of the law, but they seem to break the "spirit" of the law to keep the public's trust by failing to put his life on the line for those children.

Do you think he deserves the pension he is getting?

Well, I don't really believe Trump would have done that, but this cop is a mediocre one.

I think he deserves a lesser pension for sure. He deserves something after working so many years, but being a coward when your job is to be brave also deserves some kind of penalty. So the pension should have been reduced.

Yeah, Trump was just grandstanding. He did work, sure a pension he paid into, but to fail at his job he was highly paid to do I would think there would be some penalties...

Being a tool of the NWO pays well...especially if you're in a heavily Chabad area, I guess...

My guess is his real job was to make sure nobody in a uniform accosted the real UNIFORMED SHOOTERS with the Israeli bullpup.

Wow Scott Peterson is retiring with a cushy money baggage there are others in America or going without tonight or who wonder where their next meal is coming from. There are others in America who have to skimp and Save just to enjoy the small things in life. There are others in America who have to choose between their medication and a meal to live. It makes you wonder what kind of conscience mr. Peterson has. And also makes you question the system and why this happens. Thanks my friend for sharing. @krnel

Yes, the system is imbalanced :/

I heard about this a few weeks ago. The guy should have been whiped through the streets and instead he is being paid almost $9,000 a month in tax money. This should be a huge story and hardly anyone is covering it.

I dunno about whipped, but shunned, ostracized, his community shouldn't have stood for it. But then again, we are all pretty powerless as a community when we love our servitude to centralized authority and their state gang thugs...

Do you think he deserves the pension he is getting?

That's a hard call. In a general sense no one deserves so much from tax payers in pension each year, in my opinion.

In a practical sense, central authority would not likely convince someone to put on one of their uniforms for 32 years without such financial carrots. 😎

Hehe, yes no one deserves tax money indeed. They are indeed expecting some nice chunks of change for putting their "life on the line" for so long ;)

I thought at the time, and still do, that he should face accessory charges, because by refusing to enter, he effectively assisted!
:(

Well, does anyone who is a bystander assist? No, they just stand by. To assist you need to be involved in it... maybe he was...

True, bystanders are not legally requiers to assist. This Man was being paid to be security for this specific school, so HE was not a bystander. He was on location, armed, probably wearing a bullet resistant vest, Trained in this specific problem, and was being Paid to intervene; yet he did NOTHING!

Instead he left unarmed childrento be shot by a mad man!

My personal feelings are that the coach's family, since He tried to do ther job this man was hired to do (even though he was not armed or protected); should be given this mans pension, with his apology.

I guess that is the core of my objections; he deliberately left these kids to die, to stay safe.... :(

Yeah, good point.

If you add the fact that some of these shootings are questionable, and smell suspiciously of government planning; and the fact that this person (NOT this man) was a government employee.
It begs two questions:
1) Was he TOLD not to go in?
2) Was he PAID OFF by this retirement?

It would be interesting to know who gave this order, if it occurred.

They learned at Sandy Hook, that in order to be believed; there had to be kids bodies in their plans. They, knowing this, chose to proceed; calculating that their goals were more important than innocent life! :(

Thats quite a bit of money for not doing anything. I wonder what would it be if he actually went and shot that SOB

He would get a medal at least... prob the same pension...

Not that any of these false flag shootings are real anyway, and he needs donut money...

People can still die even if it's a false flag... the unreal is the false story concocted to sell to the people.

They can - but I suspect that every school shooting and false flag event since 911 was zero deaths because they don't kill off the crisis actors - they need them for the next one!

It is hard to find people who have zero morals, even in the acting community! They would have to move down past lab rats; to lawyers, to find a bumper crop.

Maybe that's how they found David Hogg

Point well taken sir, LOL! My upvote is zero (so bad it might cost you money), or I would upvote this reply! :)

For a second, I thought that was Saturday Night Fever....
