Slovakia might have the first female president!
Hello everyone! Today, I would like to share some quite thrilling news!
The election in Slovakia is coming up. This means we have been showered in advertising for the past few months. There are 15 candidates, of which 3 have high enough percentages to have a chance to win the election. In Slovakia we have a system where every vote counts. The presidential candidate has to earn 50+% of the total amount of votes to win the election. If nobody passes this milestone in the initial voting round, there is a second round where only the 2 most popular candidates face off against each other.
Currently the most popular candidate is Zuzana Čaputová. She is an independent candidate with seemingly good morals and a good conscience. I am rooting for her to win. She has 40% of the votes, while the next candidate after her has only 20%. If the initial polls are correct, we might have the first female president since Czechoslovakia split. We might be close to a brighter future.
