The WSJ claims Chinese Navy supremacy soon

in #politics6 years ago

Incredible that a newspaper with a reputation like the Wall Street Journal would write an article like this- suggesting for one minute- that SIMPLY because China would possibly have more ships in 2030 than the US, would mean that the US cedes naval supremacy to China.

Is this a joke? One compares tonnage and lethality not numbers of ships out of context of tonnage and lethality. If you have smaller less powerful ships- without a worldwide network of bases- then you will NOT have supremacy over American navy- even if it was 415 for China vs 315 for America.
The tonnage of US ships are much greater, the lethality of US ships much greater and China does not have worldwide bases to support global naval supremacy- having only now open their first overseas base in Djibouti. This simplistic article is so far off the mark that's just incredible even from lamestream WSJ.

N Korea has more ships than the US on the Pacific, but other than its elite subs they are just small attack boats. Doesn't make N Korean surface fleet better than US Navy...
