The Misconceptions Of The "I Am Free" Movement, And Making The Case For A Libertarian Future....

in #politics6 years ago (edited)

Author's note: Although I was a bit hesitant to use the term "movement" in the title of this article, but I felt it pertinent to the message (more on that later).

The majority of Americans consider themselves a "Republican" or a "Democrat", as these are the two sides that control American "democracy".
America, by the way, was not intended to be a democracy, but rather a Republic. "Freedom" in today's society is the biggest and most common fallacy in which we indulge, consider the following......

Every four years Americans stampede to the polling stations in hopes to change or remain on the political course of the country, either way, essentially maintaining the division between political ideologies and their followers. Thus, ensuring a large part of the population live under circumstances in which they do not necessarily agree with.

The notion that we must continue on this path of divisiveness is ludicrous. It seems the more things change, the more they remain the same. We as a people must examine the true force of liberty and what it means to maintain a constant level of control over our lives. This cannot be achieved within a dominant two party system that thrives on our cooperation.

In 2008, something amazing took place, and that something was the birth of the Ron Paul Revolution. It was an extraordinary attempt to finally change the political course of the United States.
Of course, it wasn't without its critics, as nothing is in the world of politics. The fact that people fear change and constant media deception hindered Dr. Paul's efforts.

Now, when people feel secure in their efforts to elect a President and that candidate actually wins, that is where the sense of "freedom" takes hold. This is how they wish to live. I assure you that the other side feels the opposite. So, how can we as a country realistically expect to remain within our liberty while simultaneously feeling we've lost our rights?

Everyone must be free to practice beliefs, but cannot force those beliefs onto others, most notably, the enacting of laws designed to impose tolerance. When we allow a group or governing bodies to dictate what we as a society tolerate, it will inevitably lead to eventual human domestication and the destruction of long held values. This cannot continue.

There isn't a political ideology that is perfect, it simply isn't possible, but we must begin to embrace the significance of Libertarianism to our liberty. The government must be limited within its involvement with the people, we obey law after law until we are mentally spent. Sadly, many don't even seem to realize this. We must limit government and live within the "non-aggression principle".images (5).jpeg
