The Election is in season, there is now absolute politicking in full swing in Nigeria, West Africa which happens to be my location irrespective of my desire to relocate away from this quagmire of despair.

Presidential election is in few days now, weekend precisely which we all now know it will likely be an undisputed contest between the alleged cloned incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and challenger Atiku Abubakar a one time Vice President under General Olusegun Obasanjo, he's running under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

It's a shame that the same set of people have been ruling this country for the past forty years, the same military rulers are not retired and still running for president in the democratic dispensation.

One of the gravest disadvantage of this is the void of ideas and brilliant minds, young and vibrant individuals and not senile old men who knows nothing about economic and development of a nation so vast in resources like my country.

Funny thing is that, there are Dozens of other candidates that will be running for the presidential post and these include: Oby Ezekwesili, the former minister and founder of the Bring Back Our Girls movement; Professor Kingsley Moghalu, the former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; and Omoyele Sowore, the owner of the media outlet Sahara Reporters.

But they all know they don't stand a chance, and they want to waste their sponsors resources and mybe donations to contest with the two ruling parties, and when reality beacons, it will be a two-horse race in the end.

No harm in trying like the saying goes, but with the history of election rigging and manipulation, the result is always the the same every four years when Nigerians decides.

The two Favorite presidential candidates are the same to me, they are old and have served their time in the past, nothing is working in their decisions making while in power, so what else would they offer this time around?

An average youth in my country is aggressively seeking a total paradigm shift in Government and political dispensation, we have been bashed by backwardness enough and sooner or later things might get out of hand just like what Venezuela is experiencing at the moment.

My rant is simple and short, there's no way out if the able presidential contestant wins, they are birds of the same feather!

I am an optimist, but my optimism is waning thinner as I grow older and things are getting worse for me and those around me.

Sort:

If I didn't experience any of the military regimes of these old politicians, at least have been around to witness their civilian rule which is definitely nothing at all when it comes to governance. But unfortunately, the ball will end up at the back of the net. That is, there is less than our votes can decide even if those young aspirants are teaming up as one cause the system is bad beyond the PVC's.
Nevertheless, the ball is still in our court, let's vote wisely.

I wish I have the zeal to go out that day, wouldn't want to get caught with a stray bullet so ama stay indoor.
