How the Left Hurts the Poor and Minorities in California with Energy

in #politics6 years ago

This and other things are why I #walkedaway from the Deodorants in California. If you start to look at them with your eyes open you will do the same if you haven't already. There are more things they do than what I am going to go over in this post but this is a major one. They keep passing laws to lower our green house gasses either without understanding what it is going to do to the state or not caring. I will be using a lot of quotes from this report that came out today on this issues.
Also just a quick point. California puts out less that 1% of the green house gases in the world. So understand that what they are doing will not and can not help the planet. Unless they get others to copy us.

"Given the state’s minuscule share of global GHG emissions, Governor Brown has often proclaimed that California’s GHG reductions will be “meaningless” unless other states and countries can be persuaded to follow California’s example."

"In summary, the imposition by the state’s Democratic party leaders of highly regressive climate schemes have engendered disparate financial hardships on middle and lower income workers and minority communities, while providing direct economic subsidies to wealthier Californians in environmentalist strongholds like Marin County. This represents a significant departure from more traditional Democratic party values."

So what our new laws and policies are doing is making so our energy in CA cost 58% more than the rest of the nation. Our gas cost $0.90 more per gallon that the rest of the nation. Our middle class jobs are growing slower than the rest of the nations. A housing shortage is leading to housing cost that are out of reach for most lower middle class and poor people. All the while the rich get built in tax breaks on things only they can afford. Buy a Tesla and get back $10,000 dollars buy a solar system and get back 30% plus have free energy. Given you have to own a house to be able to do that. Or have even $40,000 for the cheapest Tesla. The rich get to laugh as they get money back on their cars and get to drive in the carpool lane alone. While the rest of us sit in Traffic. That is a major factor to why even with all they are doing we still are not lowering our carbon footprint by much.

Here is a another advantage to the rich pointed out in the report. If you live by the coast then you don't have to run the AC as much and you tend to live closer to work. Those two things save a person a lot of money on energy bills. Yet who can buy a home near the cost. Where I live my home is four bedrooms and 1300 sq feet and worth $700,000 to $800,000 and it was built in the 1960s. I could not afford my house today. I was very lucky to get it when I did for just under $600,000. The real point here is my small house in the cost is so far out the budgets for most middle class and poor people here it is sad. Cause really it should just be a small starter home. Instead you have to move out to the middle of the state to get anything they can afford and they have to run the AC all the time as it is hot all year long along with having to commute into work for hours in traffic.

population figu.png

Population boom has lead to the major reason that we can't lower our green house outputs and that open border isn't helping. California in its grand wisdom gives driver licences to illegal residents. This change in policy along with them calling CA a sanctuary state has helped lead to a boom in population. Even though more middle class workers are leaving CA that ever before still the population grows. Now that everyone can drive workers are not taking buses. Yet lawsuits and just laws that we pass have stopped us from building new freeways. So we have the worst traffic in the country and our cars push out more CO2 as they sit in place. This is great example of democrats just not being honest or not understanding what their policies are going to do. You can't let a lot of new people come into the state give them the right to drive and not prepare the roads for this. To fix it they keep trying to raise taxes on gas so that we pay more than anyone else for the right to drive our cars. This is a tax on the poor and their willingness to to this over and over. Pass taxes and laws that will only hurt the poor and might not even be paid by the rich.

"California’s climate program also reduces the state’s ability to generate higher wage jobs for residents without college degrees in manufacturing or other industries highly sensitive to energy and housing costs."

This fact is really sad cause at the same time we drive all these jobs out of California we are one of the few states that have the amount of 18-25 year old without a high school diploma growing. This could be due to the amount of homeless we have as we lead the nation in that area also. Which also leads us to leading the nation in poverty. They other thing the report points out is that this policy doesn't even help with green house gas admissions when you look at it from a world wide point of view. See we drive all the oil burning power plants out of town so we should feel good right. Well no cause we just buy our power from Texas and other states that burn oil. So again it is really just a fake policy that drives up the cost of electricity for all of us but doesn't really change anything for the world. Until we are able to produce more power from solar and wind this will be true. As of right now there is not planned date for us to do that. By pushing manufacturing out it is even worse. Take Apple a gem of California. Well it builds all it's phones in China where they don't have any rules and pump out much more Green house gases than we did before the rules go so bad that they had to move it away. Same thing with Google who host all it's big server farms in states that burn oil to make power cause it is cheaper to keep those servers online all day in a place with cheap power. The tech companies in the bay area are a huge problem. As they are really the leaders that drive our economy in California. But they don't hire low wage or middle class workers. They as drive up the price of housing to levels that other can't afford to stay. It has been great if you already owned a house up there. But for the younger generations we are stuck not being able to own a home. That is the other big group leaving California. Young people that came to realize they would never be able to own a home here.

quote1.png

This is one of the facts that makes me sad when I think about it. I have lived in California my whole life. I have worked really hard to get to where I am. I work a full time job just under 100k a year , drive for uber, door dash, lyft, bog on steem it. Mine ETH, try to trade in stocks and crypto. I have to do all of that to just barley be able to pay for my house and my kids day care and our normal day to day cost. I have no idea how anyone making even $60,000 a year could do it. Yet I don't know if my family will be able to stay here. If my daughters would be able to start a family here? Democrats have such a firm hold on this state and they are running it right into the ground. I really hope people see what is coming out here. The poor can only be driven down so much before they will snap. Some of us are trying to fight back. We need support teaching people the truth. That the democrats do not help the poor. In fact they hurt them. Most of the time for nothing also. Once again even if we all stopped making any green house gases out here in California tomorrow. It won't even make a 1% difference. Yet it has been a major issue for the democrats here and it is costing you thousands of dollars more a year to pay for those ideas and rules.

The people of Cal got exactly the government they voted for. Mow their running out of other people's money to spend. Correction will occur at the ballot box. But the same corrupt politician will get back in because its not the individual responsibility to vote. but to just go along as a good little demoncrate

Yes I worry that it is going to fall apart before people change there mind in the ballot box. A bit of a worry for me as I bought a house here.

If Calf. allows/gives illegale the right to vote it will go from expensive to unaffordable to live there. To many businesses and people are moving out. SF and Detroit are examples. We see what happens on the upcoming election across the state

Thanks for being here!!

Half of that is why we chose to leave California. It will always be 'home' to me even though I personally do not have any family left there. My in-laws and some friends but that's it. I love to visit and do some of the things I miss doing. Just like we cannot figure out how my husband's sister-in-law is able to stay home with the kids. They take vacations. Their house is smaller than ours, and 4x the price their house payment is more than 2k/mo and own 2 new cars. As far as we know he makes maybe 80k/ yr.
I just don't get it. It doesn't seem possible

Ya so many friends have left. I talk about it with my wife but I have a good job right now. If I lose it we are gone for sure. Ya my house is pretty small at 1300 SQ feet and we pay 2600 a month. I make a lot more than that to be able to live here and still i feel broke all the time. It is sad sometimes to feel like I made it but still also feel like I can't spend any of my money cause I have to pay all the high bills.

Yeah as long as you have you job it's not worth it to move. Unless you actively look for something ahead of time. My house is a little smaller 1100 sq Our payments started out at 1000/mo but then FHA offered a rate reduction and we took it, it dropped out payments by 400/mo. So we put 5 yrs longer on the loan...we were only 5 yrs into the loan and we didn't lose any principal or interest paid. Seemed too good to be true, but it worked so it was something good for a change.
