Republicans are trying to steal the election in Georgia with a voter purge

in #politics6 years ago

Through a process that Kemp calls voter roll maintenance and his opponents call voter roll purges, Kemp’s office has cancelled over 1.4 million voter registrations since 2012. Nearly 670,000 registrations were cancelled in 2017 alone.

My thoughts on this news

Once again Republicans prove they are trying to destroy democracy. They do not want America to be a democracy because they know they will lose. Instead they are trying to keep people from being able to vote so they can turn America into an oligarchy controlled by an authoritarian regime. In the State of Georgia where Republican Brian Kemp is running for Governor, he is also the Secretary of State, he is in charge of elections and voter registration in Georgia. Just before the election he decided to purge over 53,000 voter registrations to keep minority Democrats from voting. This is all the Republicans have left, they have to cheat to win.
