The plan, introduced by the National Park Service in August, would restrict protesters from gathering along the north sidewalk of the White House. Demonstrations are often held in that area, directly in front of the North Lawn near Lafayette Park. People have been lining up in that area for over 50 consecutive nights of protests, which have featured celebrity speakers like Rosie O’Donnell, Kathy Griffin and Stormy Daniels’s lawyer Michael Avenatti.

My thoughts on this news

I thought the Republicans were all about the Constitution and freedom of speech. It would seem that Trump does not like all those protesters expressing their freedom of speech in front of the White House. Maybe he is just being a little snowflake and is afraid of them. So it looks like they are trying to pass new laws to stop people from being able to protest in certain areas around the white house, mostly to distance them away from the White House. During the Trump administration we have seen more American protesters than anytime during modern American history. Last time this many Americans have taken part in protests all over the USA is probably during the Vietnam War. I guess we will see what happens but this is definitely the beginning measures an authoritarian government takes to silence it's opponents.
