Politics, A Game of Interest, Not A Game of Hatred

The issue of violence or blind followership cannot be overemphasized in politics. For various reasons, people show unalloyed allegiance to politicians, and as such, can go to any length in defending the interests of those politicians. This kind of people do all sorts of dirty jobs to show their support or allegiance. Some of these dirty acts include money laundering, assassinations, disruption of peaceful electoral processes, falsification of electoral data, and so on. One question needs to be answered and that is...

As a matter of fact, politics is a game of interest, not a game of hatred. This simply implies that a politician chooses the side that benefits him more at a particular point in time. It is rare for a politician to stay true to a party or a clique for long, especially in the face of a stronger opposition. This is why many politicians jump from one political party to another, break into factions, or form coalitions, all for the purpose of getting better chances at winning elections.

No matter how many disgusting words a politician speaks against a particular party, he is still welcomed with open arms and they'll probably throw a party when he decides to join that political group. What then happens to the struggles of those who have fought with every ounce of blood to defend his ambition in the previous party?

Politicians from opposing parties do business together, they exchange Christmas gifts, they make jokes and laugh during telephone conversations, they even marry their children to one another and so on, but what happens to their die-hard supporters? They habour hatred towards each other, get involved in hot arguments, wound, or even maim each other, all because of a politician that does not recognize their faces, not to talk of knowing their names. Many people have lost their lives or lost vital body parts in fights that have erupted from these unreasonable encounters.

No politician's ambition is worth the blood of any citizen!
