Politics Good Or Bad

Republicans have an opportunity to take back the Senate. Not only have I heard it said, I've said it myself. Sounds about right, except that it's not. Not anymore. These days, policy that is bad is increasing becoming politics. On the other hand policy does not get. Take the issue of immigration. On shutting the border, especially it is good politics. But researches show that the border close, you make it more strenuous for foreign nationals to leave the country they end up staying here. A policy will be to make it easier for employees to come here to work and maintain their own families.

That would require simpler and visas border crossings. But it's awfully difficult to make the case to produce the border easier to cross in an election year. Beating Congress as an institution up is. Campaign advisers love the idea of cutting making them stay back in their districts so they really can listen to the people and the pay of members of Congress. But the end result is that could operate, if this policy were to be enacted, and it is difficult to make the case that they'd be representative of the people. And lets not kid ourself! The even more time they spend in their districts, the less time they spend getting their work done.

Which leads to government shutdowns and dysfunctional government. With regards to foreign policy, there's without doubt that the American individuals are in an isolationist mood. And from a political viewpoint, it's mighty tempting to jump on the isolationist bandwagon, as claimed by some libertarians on the right and populists on the left. But from a policy viewpoint, whenever we retreat, the rest of the world falls into chaos. We do not have to be the worlds police officer, but we do have to vigilantly defend our interests and our values and at times, which requires more than just moral persuasion.

In the same time, fantastic Republican reform policies do not get the credit they deserve. When George W. Bush signed into law the Medicare Modernization Act this created the Medicare Advantage Program and provided seniors with a prescription drug benefit, it turned out to become fantastic policy. Nonetheless, critics on both the left and the right has constantly denigrated him, despite the proof that it's been a resounding success. The left hates the fact this it includes free market reforms and the right hates this it costs so much.
