Portland meteor? North to south..

in #portland5 years ago

I heard just barely walked outside and looked up to see a flame colored light shooting Southbound. At first I thought it was a plane but it didn't have any lights and strobes going.

I was too busy trying to determine if it was a plane or what it was.

It traveled above me and then headed south. And then it quickly faded before completely disappearing.

Pretty shocking but also an amazing evening and such a blessing.

Shooting stars are not rare.. This was a bit big for a shooting star! Wow!

It might of been a UFO that crashed. Any sign of Men In Black in the area after you saw it?

I wish... I totally would. Shank a alien.

And hook me. Up with mind control device...

Howdy sir ganjafarmer! very cool indeed. More people need to get out and just unwind and observe the night sky.

Not many people spent the time looking up...

And for sure it's nice to see things but that wasn't cool for sure! Wow!

Well we will get more looks at things for sure!

Yes sir, the night sky is totally amazing when you can see it away from the city lights and then something like that is powerful!

This was so bright that I can see it extremely clearly even with light pollution of Portland.

Which honestly enough that is a extremely intense amount of light! Even the aircraft marking lights we're nowhere near the intensity of that fireball

sir ganjafarmer! are you sure you weren't blazin too much when you saw that thing? lol..that sounds way too bright to be a shooting star!

Never blaze too much. And why did it fade out? And yeah that's a raging good shooting star! Wish I had it on camera but it wouldn't really capture what I saw.

Insane!

Shooting stars usually are small. And quick to burn up. This? Went from north to south in about 10 seconds. Way faster and higher than any plane. And just as quick faded and burned out.

Thats amazing sir ganjafarmer! yeah, usually they are a couple of seconds worth so that one had to be huge.

Huge to be that bright... And fast as it went overhead in 5 seconds or so... Then another 5 and gone. And at that point... It was a massive amount of distance. I usually clock airliners and such at way less speed. Insane! Had to record and hoping that the news or someone else saw it too. But alas no word.

The UFO thing isn’t far fetched, Oregon is supposedly a bit of a hotspot for activity.
