This is my entry for the "HALLOWEEN" contest on this post by @portraitcontest

Bit busy today but had to get this in before the deadline tonight. It is a composite image which includes my good friend Keith and a photo of a skull. Obviously not a small amount of Photoshop went into this, so I guess it's debatable if it's a photo or digital art. I think it's a bit of both. If this breaks any rules I am unaware of, please feel free to disregard.

I made this image in 2015 for a photography competition at my local camera club with a set subject of "Things that go bump in the night". The club has no issues about allowing entries which are composites and/or heavily Photoshopped, they encourage a bit of creativity. It finished in a pleasing second place. :)

Anyway, hope you like and thanks for reading.

What an incredible image! Your poor friend! That is some incredible photo manipulation.

Thank you very much, my poor friend indeed, he's been a victim of my camera and manipulation on many an occasion. ;)

And he still loves you! He is a very good friend!

He's always good fun. In the car on the way to the woods for this shot he was waving at random people like he was royalty. ;)

Oh I like him! And he makes a wonderful wizard! What a great image! You are very clever.

Really cool ! Very good photo manipulation :) Love the zombie effects very much :D

Thanks :)

I think this is my favorite Halloween related photography/digital art piece yet, @richee. I like how the skin looks weathered or dried where it still stretches along the bone, and the various colors of the skull underneath. The beard looks especially grizzled. I'm not sure where the man ends and the digital art begins but it's a great composition because of that.

Very much deserving of second place in your previous contest, and worthy of more here.

Thank you very much Glen. :)

Oush, looks terrifying.

And so it should, thanks :)

Wow! I would love to be able to work with photoshop like you! This is an incredible image! I hope that your image will be accepted for the contest :) Good luck!

Thank you very much. To improve at Photoshop, be sure you understand layers, masks and selections, most everything else flows from there. There are tons of tutorials to be found using Google and YouTube.

Glyn Dewis talks a lot about "non destructive" editing, which basically means all (or nearly all) of your edits are adjustable even after saving your image. Maybe a bit of a learning curve at first but makes things so much easier in the long run, you're free to make mistakes, experiment and play. Correcting mistakes (which I do all the time) becomes a hell of a lot easier when you work non destructively.

Thank you for your encouraging words! I think I will have to accept that there will be many mistakes but I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. And I'll be so happy if I'll manage to work with photoshop!

Have a great weekend!
