Hector

There’s an old African saying; ”The Lord doesn’t act without being gracious - He kills the hair on your head, but replaces it with a luscious beard”

I saw Hector sitting on a bench with his friends having a lively conversation over a brew. I had been on a film photo walk with my local group. We were touring the beer brewing area of London and taking photographs.

I spotted this gentleman straight away, sitting up against a green wall. The contrast of his incredible beard and the background was begging to be photographed, so I approached him and struck up a conversation. I told him what we were doing and how I’d really love to take his photograph.

He’s from South America, so I indulged in a little Spanish language banter. People are always impressed when you speak their language - even if just a little bit.

I can imagine in the olden days, this man would be perceived as an intimidating and fearsome viking warrior with a dome and beard like that. Hector was, however, a true gentleman and a very pleasant person to talk to.
