How can symptoms of postpartum depression be identified?

in #postpartum5 years ago

One of the symptoms that has been common in recent years is the phenomenon of postpartum depression. It should be noted that this phenomenon is not necessarily an increase, but there is another explanation - the awareness of the subject simply rises, so we hear more about the phenomenon. It is important to remember that postpartum depression is depression for all intents and purposes and it also requires treatment for the mothers (or fathers) who suffer from it. This may last for more than a few days or weeks after birth .

This will identify the symptoms
Indifference to the baby - Although not every mother has a baby, it will inevitably come to him in full love, and this is understandable in view of the work that you have just experienced, not accompanied by surgery and pain, which requires recovery. However, if over time the mother is indifferent to the baby - it may be about postpartum depression.
Decreased appetite - decreased appetite can also be several days after birth, certainly because of the changes that the body undergoes. However, if there is a lack of desire for all foods over time, then it is possible that this is about depression.
Sleep disorders - Everyone says it's hard to sleep after a baby is born, and that's true, because they wake up at unusual times. However, if the mother has a long time of falling asleep, when the baby sleeps, it is certainly a possibility for the development of postpartum depression.
A decline in self-worth - when someone complains over time that she is no longer as she was in the past, claims that she is incapable of doing anything, claims that she is failing as a mother and as a human being, it is a very prominent symptom that suggests depression.

Is there a higher risk for some women?
Probably so. Some women are more likely to have a postpartum depression. The risk group is of first-born women, women who do not have family support, women who were previously sensitive to oral contraceptives, women with changes due to premenstrual syndrome, and women who experienced depression before birth, with or without pregnancy.
