I just wanted to say a big fat squeezy public thank you to each and every one of you that made my 39th birthday (noooo... not my 50th @quillfire lol) extra special! I apologise in advance for some of the crappy pics, but - well - wine time started early on the 6th haha and the place we went to for dinner was also really low light, which made decent pics almost impossible unless I had resorted to using a flash... and I HATE everything looking like a yellow deer in headlights haha!

My birthday actually started as early as Tuesday, when I was summoned to the front door by a delivery man with the most deliciously scented mystery arrival of perfume, which I have been wearing ever since! Perfume is something that I consider a really "personal choice" item... so hats off to whoever chose it, because I love it!

When Thursday rolled around I actually spent the whole day alone and working lol - the sad state of adulting haha... but eventually I grew bored of that, and as I had to fetch Jude from school and my mom for dinner, I decided to get the (boring old persons) party started early...

As always, mom brought some spoils for me too... and I think is the only person that still gives me an enveloped card with a long handwritten message in it. Love you mom!

We had no plans of doing anything grand, and my mom and I spent the afternoon talking about a whole lot of nothing. We eventually decided to go out at about 8pm and even when we got into the car we still didnt know where we were going lol. I had made mention of wanting to visit Ricks Americain Cafe and that was where we ended up.

Upon arrival, we were smacked in the face with an absolute HUMMMMM of people and conversation once we opened the entry doors. Honestly, I didn't think we would get a table - but the hostess very quickly seated us at what was probably their only table left haha! I am funny that way, I really HATE not having options... so initially, my nose was a little out of joint, because the table was right between two others... a little too close for my liking - personal space and all haha!!! But, it was nothing that a bottle of wine wouldn't solve... and was all gone and forgotten once I got over myself ;)

The entire restaurant appears to be themed according to the movie Casa Blanca (I stand to be corrected). It is rich with character and adding the foot traffic, really creates a fantastic mood fit for an unforgettable evening. Shortly after we had been seated, I received what was officially my FIRST actual PHONE CALL for the day - from one of my oldest primary school friends. My mom and had ironically discussed just hours prior, how nobody "phones" anymore. Everyone just texts you or sends their wishes on social media.

So it was actually really special to get that phone call. Lyn explained to me that she had made a new years resolution to do EXACTLY that in 2019... ie. being more personal about things - "old school style!" haha! And because of that phone call, they will be coming here for lunch tomorrow. Lyn is now vegetarian, so today I prepared a creamy butternut soup to be served with all the sides tomorrow, (it is always better the next day) which I will share with all of you soon!

Jude, and my mom had the fish with mash... which I was very close to ordering too! - But I scored the best of both worlds, as Jude could not finish his (it was a HUGE portion), so I got to eat it for dinner the next night haha! I eventually opted for the fillet and mash which was equally as divine! I have to say that it truly was an amazing evening! Our waiter (I omitted to get his name) was absolutely fantastic and had a super sense of humour. The food was beyond delicious and the whole atmosphere of the place was what completed it!

Once we had some food in the little mans tummy... there was about an hour of giggles, smiles and shenanigans but then he passed out on the sofa. hehe - poor thing, it was a late night for him, but he championed through it - as he always does!

It was an absolutely wonderful evening out and we will definitely be visiting Ricks again! As for the day as a whole, it was AWESOME! So again.... thank you to each and every one of you that added to that! As moms, our minutes, hours, days weeks (you catch my drift) are always focused on our little ones and making everything perfect for them that we forget about ourselves - so all the love and spoils really meant the world to me! Love you all long time - MWAH!!!!!

As most of you already know our community is closed. This does not mean that we are trying to keep people out or that we ignore those who aren’t members – it simply means that we are focused on keeping our standards of content high and our member commitment higher. I think if nothing else, we have proven those two qualities to the Steemisphere over the last year and even more so in the last seven days.

I am not going to sugar-coat things for anybody, because it would not make any sense whatsoever, nor would it serve anybody fruitfully - long-term. Our community is incredibly proactive - and DRIVING the success and growth of the people within it is our FUNDAMENTAL PURPOSE, because this is how they are able to do the same in return for other individuals in communities beyond our own! Our reach extends WAY beyond our own walls and this is one of the primary reasons why it is important to ALL OF US that each of our members are able to hold our flag high wherever they may roam.

We work hard, we play hard - we support one another through thick and thin, we know whats going on in our "3D" lives and no matter what it is - we are there for each other! Yes, there are daily responsibilities and obligations. Yes, there are things that fly within our walls and things that definitely don’t. Yes, we require quite a bit from you as an individual but you get it tenfold in return and ANY ONE of our members will gladly testify to this. Absolutely EVERYTHING is catered for and considered… including those times when you will NOT be able to fulfill your obligations. It simply requires the following of our procedures, which once you have grasped – are not complicated at all - I promise.

Everybody in our community jokes about my “boot” because they know that there are certain things that never were and never will be tolerated within our walls… and when they surface, those people will very quickly meet my infamous “boot” sending them out the door – or at least showing them that it is open. A few such things would be the likes of: not doing what you promised to do when joining, not being a team player, plagiarism, spamming, causing trouble with other members etc. These are all no-brainers really, so should not be much of a shock or challenge to anyone who is actually on Steemit (or any other platform) to make it a better place for everyone!

We may be a relatively small collective, but we have approx. 118 members from over 30 countries and that continues to grow. Most of our members are also key players in some of Steemits other highly regarded and supportive discord communities and initiatives - and all of us at “home” know without question or doubt that every single one of our members will make us proud with whatever they do – wherever they go – and that is precisely how we intend to keep it. Simple as that! No, this kind of “ethos” does not work for everyone – and that is perfectly fine - Each to their own. The people who have done the “putting in” are the ones that understand what they “get out” of it all ;)
