Lost Sperminforest

in #powerhousecreatives5 years ago (edited)

Today I lost our office drone. I was making some photos of a building site. Up in the air I made a little excursion to catch some nice photos on the near hill.

Due to strong winds and low battery the drone switched into an auto landing mode, where I had no control over the descent.

I just tried to land it on a safe spot in the village but couldn’t figure out where exactly it landed and GPS was off.

Fortunately after searching around for quite some time I found it in a neighbourhood parking lot. Finally i can show you the nice shots of the sperm prodruding the wood;)

"the sperm prodruding the wood" lol! That's too funny. It does kinda look like that. Good thing you were able to find it before someone else came and took it!

Thanks - great relief!;)

Phew! I was reading thinking 'uh oh, expensive mistake!' - glad you found it!

Yeah great relief! I have to figure out how to connect it with the cell phone to track the position. I have the remote control with integrated screen which is a little complicated with internet connection...

Im glad you found it !! What a relief :)

Those shots are amazing, sperm in the woods indeed XD

Thanks so much ;)

That's interesting...

Lol, the sperm protruding the woods and a new life was given to you as you emerged with your baby (office work drone) :D

Love those drone shots!
So glad you found your drone - whew!
What happened to the trees around the building site, they look like they were burned or something?

Thanks @porters! It is not the building site, it was the place where i made an excursion to - i think it is kind of a forest road where a lot of clearing and replanting has been done

Hey, @mitchtokita.

I think you're the second person, or maybe third, to lose a drone in the last little bit. I'm glad you were able to find yours. Those are a decent investment—the good ones, anyway—and of course, it's hard to show pictures if you can't find the camera. :)

I lost a remote control airplane once. I'd just bought it that very day for my birthday, and went to go fly it. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to get it off the ground very far, I finally did, made it turn, and then it took off straight on its own, and didn't respond to the controls.

I never did find it. Went looking all over for it in nearby fields. I have no idea if someone found it, or it just kept flying beyond where we were looking.

It's great that they build in landing protocols like that, especially if it loses signal.

Thanks for sharing the adventure and the photos. Amazing how nature, well, imitates other nature. :) Okay, I guess the road is manmade.

Yes, it's all about experience. I will hopefully do not underestimate the winds again - sorry about your plane - such things happen so fast as i had to learn...

Well, thank you. It's been quite a few years ago now. I don't even think about it unless someone writes about losing a drone. It was a fairly big deal at the time, because of the cost and lack of use it ultimately got, but compared to a $500-$1,000-plus drone, the money I spent was quite a bit less and the controls weren't nearly as sophisticated. There wasn't a camera either. If I ever do it again, it will be a drone of decent-size, with different safety measures built in. Then, I'll test it a few times in an area designed for RC flying, rather than at a park. :)
