Historical Fort Nashborough

Hi Guys :)

New week already, how time flies, hey :)

Taking a break from food posting, let make take you back to Nashville. We went to a lot of places in such a short time, and I have not share most of them yet, as I like blogging food more :P

Today I do not feel like blogging on food though, so travels it is :)

Fort Nashborough, ever heard?

Fort Nashborough was the stockade established in early 1779 in the French Lick area of the Cumberland River valley, as a forerunner to the settlement that would become the city of Nashville, Tennessee. The log stockade was square in shape and covered 2 acres (8,100 m2). It contained 20 log cabins and was protection for the settlers against wild animals and Indians. - Wikipedia

Before we left for Nashville, we browsed the net what would be available within walking distance from our hotel that would be good to take the kids to, and Fort Nashborough was one of them.

This "attraction" is the 3rd replica of Fort Nashborough and it is free to visit, a self-guided tour.

Took us about at least 30 mins walk with little kids from the hotel and it is located by the river. You would be able to see the famous Nissan Stadium, the home field of the famous Titans (NFL) across the river, and stroll along the area which is pretty clean considering soooo many birds right up on the electricity lines. And when I said so many, think of hundreds and hundreds, right above your head. BIRD POOP rain :P

But yeah, it was not so bad. It's a convenient location should you like to take the family down to the river right after checking out Fort Nasborough. It's quite nice.

Although this attraction is historical, supposedly all the logs used and whatnot were not from the original Fort Nashborough but new materials. Even so, you would be able to read some of the histories of the first settlers, the attack to the settlement, etc. Pretty interesting and wowed my then 8 yo much :)

Should you like to check out this little bit history of Nashville, Fort Nashborough is located on 1st Avenue North

Thanks for reading and I will see you tomorrow again :D
