Snowden: "Most Effective Means Of Social Control In The History Of Our Species" Now In Place
NSA whistleblower, Eric Snowden, feels that the means are in place to effectively control the population. We are now living under a state of mass surveillance.
The technology companies are a big part of this. Facebook has hundreds of pages of legal jargon that few are qualified to read if they even tried. This is the merging of contract law with technology which resulted in the populations being taken advantage of.
New technologies are creating a redistribution of power, the first major move since the Industrial Revolution. This is making large technology companies and governments even more powerful. People's need to connect is being exploited by these institutions and turned against them.
The impact of Russia on the United States Presidential elections are only the tip of the iceberg. The ability to influence opinion along with censorship means that control is even easier than before.
This is something that Snowden feels should be a concern to everyone.

I actually got to watch this and he was incredible! He just had so much love and respect for people and their right to be free.
While that article mentions some important parts, he also talked about how he has a lot of hope for the future of privacy. He said that people are becoming aware of their ability to defend their privacy using things like end-to-end encryption. People can and are winning the information revolution against govs/corps. We're winning!
I can not express how humble, genuine, and sincere he was. The proceeds of this talk went to support the families that have helped and supported him throughout his exile.
