Github to be taken over by microsoft.

in #programming6 years ago (edited)

I am still not entirely sure if this is true or just a bad joke, but I fear it is true. So does a lot of other developers and researchers apparently.

only funny thing is this rendition of how someone believes the interface will look after microsoft takes over:

I usually do not post much about software development or politics. My blog is mainly for my creative projects, but sometimes something happens out there in the real world which impacts me and I feel I have to comment on.
I am a happy github user, and it pains me if microsoft takes over, for two reasons:

1: i Dont like large companys with near monopoly taken a larger bite of the market , since more monopoly means less competition and usually bad and overpriced products
2: I am fairly sure that the terms of use will change into something more like what microsofts other products have which will mean that either i get to pay or - i get to pay in some other way.

all in all bad news in my book.

Say it ain't so.

Microsloth destroys everything it touches.
It just gets worse and worse over time.
I really don't know how they do it.

I am sure that Microsloth is the front company for the elite to get control over some code repositories. Just like F-c-book and ThemTube they will censor flag certain content for violations of not being politically correct enough in the right way.

This news is just very, very sad.
R.I.P. GitHub

I think MS has changed a lot over the years. I would not be so worrying, sure they might integrate azure very closely with github but that is not the worst idea.

I agree. I think there's hope for them yet :)

But I couldn't resist playing on the negative sentiment creatively, so I submitted these two gifs as entries to a Gitcoin GIF competition where one of the themes was the Github acquisiton by Microsoft:
