Good morning guys, this is @bait002 the founder of the offline minnow school where minnows are mentored and groomed. I have been writing to assist those who need to learn enhanced image usage for some days now and today, I will be going to the third part of the technical part which of course is the last on the technical issues on image usage. The golden maxim through this blogging series remains;

write as though you have a reputation to protect because, you truly do...

What to expect in this series

  • where to find images.
  • how to select good images.
  • technical aspect relating to format and web compatibility.
  • legal issues about images.
  • Lastly, some additional tools to use.

How to make the image size as small as possible

After all said and done, now we need to start thinking in terms of how to get these images as small as possible in with respect to their file size. We know how helpful speed is for a easy accessibility of your blog posts and in that case this should be prioritized.

The moment you’ve successfully saved the image file as above you can then proceed to test-run it. It's quite easy to get that on Steemit since you can easily see the preview of the post below the editor. This would make you see the various percentages of sizes that can make you indifferent when it comes to quality.

Also, remember to switch between mobile and desktop view since most curators do that from a computer screen. Make sure you blog is impressive enough to deserve a reward.

Take for instance, I added a graphic of a guy playing football that I’m using for another post and got it all the way down to 31KB and a saving of 93% just before I took note of the background colors getting a bit jaggy. This would be an incredible feat for an image; remember you shouldn't sacrifice too much quality all in the name of getting the image size down.

You should know that getting this done would secure a lot of loading time. Don't forget that "images serves as incentives for readers". I repeat, it displeases me each time I have to wait for a longer on a blog just because of the images.

WRITE LIKE A PRO BECAUSE YOU HAVE A REPUTATION TO PROTECT

How to dealing with Mac's retina display screens

You're currently engaging with my post from you device and I don't know what kind of device because, you chose that independent of me. In the same way, readers will engage with your blog from a wide range of device types so you need to ready your in order to entertain more visitor with different device types.

On Mac PCs with Retina displays, many images look kind of blurry.

This is because more pixels are being packed into smaller areas on the screen and this is something that you should try to address having your readers in mind.

Computers or phone screens are made up of tiny squares, they are called pixels; these small tiny squares display colors that makes up all the text and images that you see on the screen.

Retina display mode can be found on Apple inventions. Basically what they do is, double the pixels per area. So, instead of having on pixel like a normal screen, a retina display would have four pixels. This could be a good or bad thing dependinf on the way the images were rendered initially in the sense that, things will either look sharper and crisper or blurry and unclear, if you are the type that uploads at double their original size.

This could create a huge problem for an image when it comes to sizing an image for your blog here on Steemit. I might be doing a post about this in the future based on demand.

All the technical items above that will you make a difference on your blog, also, they are all important in terms of professional writing and publications so the choice is yours.

The next post will be the last part of this series and I hope you've been taking note of all the important points.

I appreciate you for you visit to my blog, and it has been an amazing thing writing to you about this subject. This is Bait and I'm bringing words from the offline minnow school.

PHASE 1:

At this stage we teach some minnows a,t our offline classroom to help attain self-sustenance. These minnows will then work with us as a team, reproducing other minnows. Currently, we have just wrapped up with Phase 1. And Phase 2 which is more demanding kicked off already.

PHASE 2:

This basically is the core of the vision is to raise steem-backed entrepreneurs of young people. The method through which we execute the absolute idea goes as follows;

  • SKILL ACQUISITION PROJECTS: where various skills will be taught to foster the emergence of new entrepreneurs that thrive on voluntarism.

  • THE MINNOW SCHOOL TALENT HUNT: we greatly hope to give minnows who are not really writers but have other gifts such as singing, painting, dancing, acting a platform to express themselves and get their creativity beyond their minds. Basically, we are giving these young people a voice and ultimately awaken the writer in them.

  • THE MINNOW SCHOOL ART/MUSIC EXHIBITIONS: here talented young people will get to showcase their talents and the value they have to offer to the community. We will be sponsoring art projects and professional music careers will emerge with this.
