The people we associate ourselves with affect us in lots of ways that we sometimes not even think about, this is very important as they may even to an extend come into play in how far we will go in life. For that reason one must be particular about the friends he chooses and the circle he surrounds him or herself with. It is a popular saying that show me your friend and I will show your character, this goes to throw more light on the fact that the people we associate ourselves with affect us in lots of ways more than one. No matter how strong a personality you may believe to possess or how powerful or influential you may be on others, you have to know that no matter what your friends and associations will rub off you as you rub off them.
