A label attached to someone or something for the purpose of identification or to give other information.

If you've seen the glory and light this platform holds, then you're in for a long bumpy ride. We all know that things are really going to change as more users and investors come aboard this community, with that there are some essential things that should be done to have a fringe to ensure you equip yourself up for the long-term success here.

And this leads us to a crucial topic which i call Tagging

Why does it matter;

This really matters because presently, there's a lot of new post coming out, and everyone has it's own taste of article, this is why tagging is very crucial. After creating a good and well composed article it might go unnoticed or buried up by others without the right tags, and this might result to a whole lot of frustration for the writer, having done a lot of research and ideas and it all amounts to zero it could be heartbreaking. Steemit provides 5 spaces left for tagging and they have a reason for that, it's now left for us to use them wisely and effectively as per to our post.

If peradventure you have been well-rewarded for your well-written article, it's no doubt that about 60% of that reward came as a result of proper tagging.

The more people who see's your post, the more they'll be to be voted up. The less posts in the new ''section'' the more people will see your new posts. And the more posts are coming out fast, the faster yours will get buried underneath all the new ones.

As steeming grows daily, there are thousands of individuals making more and more post every second. With this, there's a thin line of your posts getting noticed in the ''new section'' tray- if you're not using the right tags.

Feel free to put multiple tags on a single post, as per your post category. The truth is, the more related tags you use, the more category listings your post might pop up.

• Reason 1

Who ever wants rewards or votes should first of all crave for exposure. Having your article/post listed in diverse categories grows your exposure to those searching for the right materials on the tagged subjects. Thus, increasing your earning capacity.

Basically, by classifying our articles, it will increase our exposure through diverse listings for each tag, this will reduce the number of posts in each category, hence assuring your posts stays on top of the ''new category'' much longer than it will in the site's main ''new list''.

Note

When tagging, be 101% sure that your tags are relevant in line with the content! if you're adding different tags to an article that isn't related to the tag you're using, you're are therefore abusing the system and this makes you a spammer or an abuser and therefore you'l get noting but a flag. By all means respect this community and tag appropriately.

How to tag properly;

In order to input a tag properly and accurately, two things are involved.

• First, input a tag in the ''tag'' field at the end of your post
• Including a tag within a story itself by adding a hashtag in front of the word (i.e #steemit #life #busy)

It's very simple, for instance let's say you're making a science subject then your first tag should be #steemstem #science, or you probably promoting steemit then you're free to use the #promo-steem tag or maybe you're writing about a contest then your first tag should be contest or giveaway. It's that simply just make your tag correspond inline with your topic. Let your tags always correspond or be relevant to your article.
