Birds and their personalities are more similar to human personalities than you think. Let's have some fun!

Studying behaviour has always been a big interest of mine. I like to sit back and watch people. Lately, since finishing my paid job I now watch the behaviours of birds and cannot help but think that there are major similarities between bird behaviour and human behaviour.

Even though birds all differ with personalities and behaviours they have a social system that flows without any upsets or fighting. People are no different; they find their roles in the social systems of work friendships.

Over several posts I plan to present the personality of each bird group. Your part in the game is to figure out which bird personality matches yours. Want to play? It is going to be fun!

The first group of birds that I admire greatly are the good old common pigeon and dove. Really Angie, the pigeons and doves take first place here? Correct!

Just think about it, these birds are the quiet patient ever waiting gentle peacemakers. I see pigeons and doves sitting on the fence, neighbour's roofs, our roof, trees and the grass quietly waiting for me to put seed in the feeders. They might be the first in the feeders, but are happy to fly to the grass or the fence when other birds take over.

Check out this dove on the fence. Sometimes very hard to see doves let along get close enough to snap a photo.



Doves and pigeons like a peaceful life. They do not fight; they patiently wait. Eventually when other dominant birds fly off, doves and pigeons go back to eating the seed.



Doves/pigeons are always alert and into self-preservation.

Be assured that people with dove/pigeon make-ups do not run away with confrontation; they are assertive when they need to be - successful diplomatic and clever negotiators. They are essential in a team!
