We live in a very sick world.....

I don't always understand life. None of us do actually. There are so many sick and sad things happening every single day.  If we look around us we see all these horrible things happen every single day.  One thing that has been bothering me for a while now is that there are just no boundaries anymore. Even the most shocking things that humans do to others becomes old news in a few seconds.

Everything just goes. Nothing is considered so terrible anymore that we cannot just look past it. It is like we just accept the things around us happening and we are just so used to bad things happening that it doesn't bother us that much anymore.

Something bad happens, then we read about it in the newspapers or on social media, and we might be shocked for a minute or so, but then we scroll on to the next thing. All thoughts about something absolutely horrible that happened is out the window and we just forget about it.

There are some horrible awful people out there, and nothing is done to stop them. Last week I was reading about and eight year old boy that was dropped of at a home for children. His mother and her new boyfriend dropped him off with one set of clothes and told the person in charge, they did not want him anymore.   They were moving away and they did not want to take him with. How can anyone in their right mind do that to a child? Why did this woman even have a child? Where is the father of this child?

This has been on my mind for the last few weeks.  How can a mother be so sick that she drops off her own child and leave him with someone that she doesn't even know?

How sick has this world become?

What are the chances that this poor child will turn out to be a normal person, when his own mother didn't even want him?

What is happening to this world, and what are we doing about it?

Is it because we just don't care anymore and we think too much about ourselves or is it that this world has become so sick that we just shutdown and look past all these bad things happening?

People don't have proper values anymore and this world is becoming such a sad sad place to live in.  I have always had strong religious values and I'm recently questioning my own beliefs about certain things in life.

We cannot help everyone, although I wish we could, but it is just impossible.

We live in a sick sick world....

Sort:

As an adopted kid with no knowledge of my birth or ancestry, I may not be normal, but at the age of 60, I like to think I have done ok for myself. I hope no one is still worried about me from the day I was dropped off somewhere in 1960.

I have always had strong religious values and I'm recently questioning my own beliefs about certain things in life.

Me too. Except that I have always questioned things. I think questioning things makes me stronger and I will never stop as long as I am breathing.

I think it is information overload. How can a normal person react to a dozen miserable stories a day?
People oversubscribe to media to avoid being lonely and sad. Instead of heading off to a local hospital to visit real children or old people who would value a person to talk to, they turn to the inane practice of facebook, whattsapp etc. There is obviously a place for these things but they become a mindless addiction. It is also laziness and really not wanting to be involved with real people.
My heart bleeds for the millions who have 'friends' on facebook who they do not know.
It's a pseudo and Godless life.
Bake a cake and invite friends over - knit blanket squares together and support a place of safety for kids!
Get REAL.
Thank you for highlighting this problem in modern society.

It may be a good thing that he was dropped off, the mind boggles what could have happened to him if he had been kept with parents like that. At least he now has a chance of getting a good family to look after him
