THE CONCEPT OF NEUROPLASTICITY

Neuroplasticity is a process whereby your brain adjusts to changes in the environment. What neuroplasticity does is to teach your old brain new things. Neuroplasticity is the ability of the brain to adapt to new changes in the environment. How did i come to know about this wonderful concept, it was through a friend of mine, He was teaching me something new and because this thing was new to me and because i was not ready to allow my brain accommodate it and also did not want to set my mind to it, i just concluded that the stuff was difficult and he said "Have you heard of the concept of neuroplasticity?, I wondered what it was and he explained further that it is the process whereby your old brain stretches to accommodate new things. It opened my eyes to something different entirely.

Many of us are in this position where we feel our brain can not accommodate somethings probably because we have passed that level and having this feeling that "oh i am too old to learn this stuff but through neuroplasticity, your brain can be restructured and reshuffled through practice and training. You might be thinking of stuffs like, how can i go back to school at this age, how can i learn this skill at this age, how can i apply for that job at this age and time, i don't think i can loose this weight, it is going to be hard but do you know that it can all be possible if you condition your brain to adapt to that new change.

The brain can adapt to what you set your mind to, that's how powerful it is. Do not limit yourself, if you want something, set your mind to it and do not give room for discouragement. Although as we grow older in age, the ability to learn new things become harder but one thing to note is that the brain tends to form neural connection throughout its life.
Neuroplasticity is a greatly interesting topic. Human brain is very amazing; it has the ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. That is why learning occurs throughout life. Previously, it had been thought that brain only develops during childhood and then the development stops, however, this is not the case.

The human brain is indeed flexible.
Learning how to harness that and use it to your advantage is one of the keys to success.

Nice Post! The brain certainly can still learn at an older age, I am a music teacher and alot of my students are beginner adults who come in totally self-conscious about how they are too old to learn, and within a few months have developed skills they never thought possible!
