--- FYI The World Has Already Ended Many Times - Sydney Australia "Tsunami Warning" 20 Sept 2018 ----

ok so i totally forgot i had this one stored in the piggy bank since way back in the year, and yes i missed the date to write the post, i know i, i know, im losing my edge. The above pic was part of the message which was being spread warning those on the east coast of Australia to prepare for a disaster.

the 20th Sept 2018 came and went without a hitch, but it had been prophesied that on this day at 9pm that a tsunami would hit the east coast of Australia devastating the areas between Nowra and Newcastle and as far inland as Paramatta. naturally living a bit further inland than that which was stated to be affected by the particular prophesied event i was not particularly worried myself... lol, but i was worried for my fellow Aussies which may have been affected.

So this got me thinking as to all the times that the world was "supposed to end" and how many times it had not ended... one of the more prominent ones was the Mayan calendar "ending" in 2012, and we all know how that one panned out.

with a little research in the area we see that in recent times we struggle to go 1-2 decades without a scare of the world coming to an end. How Many Times The World Should Have Ended

The End of The World

So what is it that drives this need to be so dark, so morbid, the want to believe in the predictions of the need of the world? well.... we can lean on my good ol' friend... the HOOMAN CONDITION for this one once again.

lets start with the basics... we all feel like we are special right ? like we are different from the rest, be it occasionally or more frequently, many of us tend to have these kinds of thoughts. The majority of us are rational with this sense of bias to oneself and it does not travel beyond fleeting moments (maybe a bit more for some, lol). But for others this concept is a solid belief, That they are "chosen for a great purpose" in their life. That they are given messages by higher powers such as gods, they they have secret direct contact with special beings not known to the rest of mankind. these kinds of thoughts and feelings can be associated with delusion of grandeur.

Next up we have the Value of a secret... we all love thinking we have some kind of knowledge which others don't know. it makes us feel like we have superpower, like we have the edge, like we are part of the "in group", it also makes us feel super special. This psychological construct also plays a huge part in many of the conspiracy theories which are way out of left field.

At the extremes these kinds of constructs can have considerably adverse effects, we have seen cult leaders kill cult members and followers, this is where the "drink the kool Aid" term originated.

Those who believe they are "chosen" and/or those who follow the "chosen one" can be willing to die for the cause. this can be related to a construct similar to the "gamblers fallacy", which is based on the fact that so much has been invested that one can not possibly back out now as the pay off is so close, so they continue to increase the stakes to ridiculous levels.... and yes even paying with their lives.

since we are the extremes of the situation we should also touch on Stockholm Syndrome which is; the feeling of trust or affection felt towards captors in many cases of kidnapping or hostage-taking by a victim. while it may sound absurd it is considerably common, particularly in cases of domestic violence and also should also be considered in cases of cults... but this is a considerable tangent from our source material.

In conclusion the hooman condition can be source of many of our weaknesses in interaction with others and the lack of ability to detect if we are fooling ourselves. Sometimes we can forget that we are all special and individuals..... but no more special and individual than the next person. Not because we have extraordinary super powers and can speak to God or other entities, but because of all the variations which can express themselves through nature and nurture that YOU are actually YOU.

From your life experiences, mental development , physical development and much more.... it has all culminated to you being exactly who you are today... your thoughts feelings and ever part of you would be completely different if you had not lived where you lived, had the parents you had, the friends, everything.... its all part of you.

the greater understanding we have of the self the more resilient we can be to others forcing their autonomy on to us, to those attempting to manipulate us with their beliefs... the more congruent we are with ourselves the easier it is to recognize not only others attempting to fool us, but also us attempting to fool ourselves.
