Them promises are tricky once^^steemCreated with Sketch.

Humans are tricky little creatures when it comes to making promisses....
Keeping promises is considered a measure of one’s worth—we are considered 'having a good karacter and our word is valid.'

When we make promises it makes us declare a conscious objective.

Promises are acknowledgment of intent, big and small
Humans have so many un-awareness thoughts and feelings,& there by missing our unconscious ambivalence about a stated commitment.

We do tend to break promises for a wast amount of resons; feelings, circumstances and capacity that changed over time.
We then lose capability or willingness to keep that promise
We do usually sinceraly mean said promise ; as in we consciously believed it....
But only a fraction of our thoughts and feelings are in our awareness at any given moment.

We do focus exclusively on feelings that is favorable and least threatening to our sense of well being. —but we don’t attend to this feeling, because we imagine it would put our connection to the other person in jeopardy.

We are wired psychologically to protect against emotional distress bymoving unpleasent thoughts and feelings out of our mind....

“No problem, i fix it next week!” a conscious intent to do the job on time is wholehearted—you will do what you said you’d do; as you wish to.
BuT now ;wait a minut
-you can unconsciously resent to do the set task, or worried you can't do it well enough, or regret choices that led to this unwelcome claime of your time.???
So now the work dont get done AS a part of you never wanted to mkae the promise in the first place.
Trying is crucial. The interpersonal contracts facilitate trust and love.

People struggle against themselves. We ignore human complexity when we criticize others—and ourselves—for not feeling or behave exactly as promised

Then the sum up
It makes little to no difference whether the promises were merely fulfilled or surpassed.

Exceeding a promise gives little meaningful increase in gratitude or appreciation.
there is no gain from exceeding a promise whatsoever.

BUT Keeping said promise is valued above & beyond its ‘objective’ value.

If you keep a promise, you did something good for someone else & you also furfilled the social contract and are seen as a reliable and trustworthy person.
Do what you promise you will do, & others will be grateful.

But dont get pissy when other people don’t seem to appreciate the extra work you did put in.

Humans arnt naturally ungrateful or unappreciative ;they’re just human.

We promot fairness and no additional benefit for generosity, may represent a more general pattern of behavior in the social system; to enable cooperation among unrelated individuals
