Hi friends, today I want to talk about something that has been heavy on my mind for a while now. I am grateful to the #nigerian community on the steem blockchain because so far to an extent we have been putting up good behaviours here and there, loving up and helping each other grow but its sadly not the same on other social media platform.

In recent times, everybody wants to be a savage or be funny or be noticed and we tend to mess up people's emotions in the process.

The initial idea of social media was for people to connect conveniently but tables have turned and we have turned it to a mess. Everyone is either showing off or being correct. There is actually no challenge with showing off or being proud but not at the expense of one's psychological well being

When we were much younger, due to one weakness or the other, some of us were victims of bullying. While some grew up and survived it, some lived with it up until adulthood.
We must have been bullied by someone cuter, taller, smarter, richer, fatter, bigger than us but we were all kids then and probably having fun.

Now we have grown, there's a kind of bullying that is rampant and deadlier than what we have been used to

#cyberbullying is a process of making life unpleasant or unbearable for someone over the internet.

It is social media....... What do you expect?
People show off, live fake lives, lie, make mistakes and the like so let's cut it some slack.
I'll give us a few examples.

How many of us remember nina of bbnaija, okay so i saw a post of her giving herself accolades for being 21 and achieving a lot, a bulk of what she said probably came out from being a victim of cyber bullying due to her relationship issues.

I remember sometime ago when BankyW got married to Adesuwa, some social media beings went to dig her past just to make her ex feel bad

Davido's baby mama deleted her Instagram account because the troll was too much for her to bear after the father of her child bought his girlfriend a Porsche, sang her a song and signed her a million dollar deal.

Linda ikeji pregnancy after encouraging ladies to stay celibate nearly landed her into the web of cyber bullying but mama knows her way around social media and their talks so her odeshi worked.

People are hurting, they have failures, they make mistakes, don't make things worse by trolling them on social media, you don't know who has a thick skin.

You might think it's just comments and you're free to express yourself but think again what if it was the other way round?

As much as you can, feel free to express your self but make sure your nose isn't in other people's business..

All of those gossips, teasing, trolling, threatening might be harmful to someone's mental health and you might want to tone it down a bit. some people might actually deserve what they get but some don't
