Como portuense sinto um orgulho que não me faz deixar de sentir uma certa preocupação.

Este não foi o primeiro ano em que a minha cidade foi distinguida com este nomeação, o mesmo já se tinha passado nos anos de 2012 e 2014, e desde então que se tem verificado uma afluência enorme de pessoas que nos querem visitar, e deixem-me que vos diga, são muito bem vindos.

Mas a cada dia que passa se tornam mais evidentes os efeitos nefastos do turismo de massas.
O turismo, quando cedento e voraz, tem a particularidade de destruir aquilo de que se alimenta, seja a autenticidade social, arquitectónica, comércio local, costumes culturais etc
Neste exacto momento, temos um problema no Porto, assim como em Lisboa, um problema que já afectou o coração de muitas outras grandes cidades.

But with every passing day the harmful effects of mass tourism become more evident.
Tourism, when cedent and voracious, has the particularity of destroying what it feeds, be it social, architectural authenticity, local commerce, cultural customs etc.
At this very moment, we have a problem in Porto, as well as in Lisbon, a problem that has already affected the hearts of many other big cities.

Este problema começa com a descaracterização das cidades, afastando a população com menores recursos económicos dos centros históricos, já muitas queixas foram apresentadas pelos moradores devido ao aumento dos preços de bens essenciais vendidos no comércio local, assim como o aumento do preço das rendas e do custo dos imóveis para venda.

Juntamente com esta desmobilização destas famílias, quarteirões inteiros na zona histórica no Porto estão a ser desmantelados, deixando de pé só a “fachada histórica” e sendo completamente remodelados e repartidos com a finalidade de dar resposta à cada vez maior procura por alojamento de curta duração.
E aqui temos em grande plano a Airbnb, que encontrando um terreno fértil onde o turismo é desregulado, tem tido uma grande adesão por parte de proprietários gananciosos.

Há uns anos atrás existia um problema aqui, que passava pela fraca reabilitação da cidade, e que tentou ser colmatada com políticas de acesso a fundos públicos e comunitários que visavam apoiar e incentivar os proprietários a reabilitar os seus imóveis, o problema é que neste momento esses fundos continuam activos e disponíveis e estão somente a beneficiar todos aqueles que querem transformar o centro histórico da cidade em alojamento de curta duração.

O turismo pode e deve ser potenciado, desde que regulado.
O problema não é do turista, mas sim das políticas locais que permitem a um pequeno grupo de gananciosos tomar conta da cidade para dela abusar a seu belo prazer...

Espero que sejam tomadas medidas que permitam salvaguardar aquilo que distingue o Porto, toda a autenticidade e peculiaridade que lhe permitiu ser nomeado melhor destino Europeu
