Esta moeda homenageia um dos mais conhecidos educadores negros americanos, Booker T. Washington e o Dr George Washington Carver, que se distinguiu nos campos de agricultura e botânica.

O obverso mostra um retrato de Booker T. Washington atrás de um de George Washington Carver.

O reverso mostra um mapa dos Estados Unidos, omitindo Delaware, com a legenda "Liberdade e Oportunidade para Todos - Americanismo".

Um total de 10,004 moedas foram distribuídas pela Mint de São Francisco em 1951. O preço atual é de cerca de U$200.00 neste grau.
