Esta moeda foi emitida como parte de um programa comemorativo autorizado para o proposto Capitol Visitor Center, em Washington,DC.
Seu obverso mostra uma imagem do Capitólio original com a data "1800" e o Capitólio moderno com a data "2001".
O reverso mostra uma águia heráldica com escudo e raios.
Foram emitidas 143.793 moedas em Filadélfia. O preço de lançamento foi de U$33,00 e o preço atual é cerca de U$225,00 neste grau.
