49 - Medalha 11 de Setembro
Hoje, em vez das moedas que eu normalmente mostro, escreverei sobre uma medalha americana.
Podemos chamá-la de Medalha Comemorativa, pois foi emitida de acordo com legislação passada pelo Congresso Americano.
É a 2011 "Medalha Nacional 11 de Setembro". Ela comemora o 10º aniversário do ataque terrorista de 11 de setembro de 2001 e do estabelecimento do Memorial e Museu Nacional 11 de Setembro, no World Trade Center.
Ela pesa 26,73g com 90% de pureza de prata.
O obverso mostra Lady Liberty segurando a Lâmpada da Lembrança. O conjunto simboliza não apenas a perda incomensurável naquele dia fatídico, mas também a resiliência e o triunfo daqueles que perseveraram.
O reverso mostra uma águia, simbolizando a força dos sobreviventes, famílias e Nação, tendo ao fundo uma cascata. A água corrente é um emblema da paz, serenidade, cura e continuidade da vida.
