Query I saw on reddit

Woman's boyfriend is from Mexico and is currently in Ireland studying English but his Visa is up in May. It's been a constant struggle for him to try and stay here in regards to money and paying rent and visa renewals and such. On his current stamp, he can only work 20 hours a week, which with Dublin's current rent mess going on, it's super hard for him to be able to save any money for a Visa renewal.

I'm just wondering, has anyone been in the same situation or can give some advice or if there are any solutions. I know he could get sponsorship from a company to work for them but it seems difficult to find any that are willing to do so or he could apply for a degree, but again with 20 hours a week, it doesn't look like he'll be getting that amount of money together any time soon.

Johnson & Johnson hire people with foreign languages. I'm sure facebook, google, linkedin all do the same.

You genuienly could find good opportunities outside Dublin as well athlone, limerick, cork, galway, Kilkenny to name a few. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language worldwide so there are companies in Ireland who will sponsor visas for Spanish speakers.

a serious option, if you are in a serious fairly long term relationship is marriage if you are an EU citizen. that reduces the visa worries but the reason you get married is because you are committed and love each other. if are working full time and he is working only 20 hours now, everything else being equal you both will save money by being married if you a jointly assessed for tax.
