Witness Update, Steem Patch Installed After Moving People For 2 Days In 34C/94F Heatwave
That night, Steem went down. I waited a few hours and then went to bed, as I had another day of moving on Tuesday.
I didn't get onto Steem until later Tuesday, and saw that a patch was released to resolve a bug. Plus my server host had a network outage, which was resolved by the time I became available. So my node went down while I was moving my girlfriend's stuff into my place.
I got the patch installed and was back online in a few hours after doing a replay

Witness Update 2018-07-05- Witness And Seed Node Updated
I initially thought my copy of the blockchain was corrupted because the process was stuck for a very long time on the witness node while the seed node was up and running very quickly. After some digging around I realised that I created my two swap files in the wrong order, the primary swap was set to the one on the slowest disk

Steem Frozen- Why Voting For Witnesses Is Important
There was a major downtime yesterday on the STEEM Blockchain where the entire blockchain got frozen. Everyone who were consistently on steemit suddenly had the problem of either login in, accessing the site ( steemit.com , busy.org or even some of the applications )
Many of us experienced this steem freeze the other day, but do we know what happened? @bitrocker2020 explains it all in this post and about why you all need to take the time to vote for witnesses to keep the blockchain flowing smooth.

@themarkymark Witness Update And Incident Response
What a night, all three witness nodes and all four full nodes updated to 0.19.5 smooth as silk. This is about 4AM in the morning. When bringing up the witnesses with 0.19.5 we had to run a temporary parameter until everything stabilized.
Once the blockchain stabilized, I shut down my witnesses as suggested and removed the temporary parameter and BAM all witnesses nodes are in full replay
Sounds as if this past week, which seems to be known as the Day Steemit Froze, caused quite a ruckus for the witness! See how @themarkymark got everything for his witness, nodes and set-up going after this past week's incident.
REMINDER Make sure to vote for your witnesses. These are the members that keep the blockchain going! Don't know where to VOTE for witnesses? Look in the upper right hand corner of your screen and click to the right of your profile image and the drop down will bring up a list of things to do on steemit. One of the ctegories is VOTE FOR WITNESSES Go there to see the top 100 witnesses. If the person you want to vote for is not there, then do the PROXY vote; where you type in the witness' name.
AND don't forget! @qurator is a witness too! Makes sure to head over and give us a vote while you're there if you haven't already!

We suggest not following the trail with 100%, steemauto has 2 ways of following a trail, static or scaled. We suggest using SCALED instead of static since static votes can add up quickly and drain VP very fast. We suggest using scaled and then maybe around 25%.
