Is there anyone who doesn't have mixed heritage

in #race6 years ago

Racism is something to me that is understandable but also extremely stupid. I can understand how people could be racist because if you grow up in a place where you only see people that look similar to you and so did your parent and grandparents, it becomes easy to make wrong assumptions and judgments about people. It is also easy to fear people of different cultures or races because if you haven't spent time around other things then it is easy to misunderstand and fear them.

On the other hand if someone were to educate themselves to a relatively low level they would understand the ignorance and change their opinions or if they just spend any time with some people from the group they dislike they would also realize their ignorance. After this if someone still does't change then they likely know that they are wrong and just refuse to accept it for whatever reason that may be.

Where does the mix come from?

To get to my main point does anyone not have a mixed heritage? To this I would say almost undoubtedly no. Personally I am a mutt, I'm a pretty even split between English, Jamaican, Irish and Polish however this is my more modern heritage directly from grandparents and if I took a DNA test it would likely show that I have heritage from a much wider area than these four places.

If you are English you would likely know that we are all barely English because of the proximity to Wales, Scotland and Ireland and there will be a similar outcome with my other heritages. Other than just proximity to other countries, meaning there will be a mix because people move around, you also have to think about the many wars and great empires throughout history. For thousands of years now people have been able to travel around the world and with large groups constantly moving and the fact that there used to be a lot of raping and pillaging I can't imagine many people not being mixed in some way. I mean look at the amount of people around the world that are related to Genghis khan, one man in one portion of history.

So really there has been people traveling for so long I don't see how anyone could be purely of one country of origin, I mean I am trying to think of an extended time in history where people didn't travel from country to country, the likelihood is that even people in small settlements that don't get many visitors have still only not had any mix coming in for a few generation, I'm sure there is an are you can think of in your country of origin where this is the case.

Even if you look at some of the most Racist places in the world for this I will use Russia, as you would assume it would be one of the least likely places to have people of mixed heritage. How many Russians are truly Russian with zero traces of any other race in their DNA as I said it's likely that they may have not had anyone in their family from outside of Russia but only for the past few generations. If you look at where Russia is situated it shares borders with a lot of European and Asian countries and when you look at Russians you can clearly see Russians who look more European and others that look more Asian because with these shared borders there would have been migration since the borders have been shared.

Don't be racist:

This is why I just find Racism insane because if you go back more than a few generations in any family you will see that they have a mix of backgrounds even in places like Russia that are known for being racist. Then I don't see how people can find themselves being racist when they are made up of such a mix themselves. Even in more recently established countries like the USA that has only been the USA for such a short time I don't understand how anyone with any knowledge could be racist because they themselves are occupants of a foreign land.

To sum things up it seems likely that everyone alive today has at least some mixed heritage which only further shows the ignorance of racism but further than that I don't think people should hold such strong allegiance to a country as they likely have heritage from a lot of other places so rather than people thinking they are better because of the country they are from they should realize that they just happened to be born on a part of land that belongs to a country. There should be a lot more important things than the country you are from. I also think people should hold some pride in the country they were born in and want to better their birth land but they should also realize that where you were born should be in the list of the least important things about the merit of an individual.
