Yes i think there is still one running in service and a couple in tourest railways. Built in the 60s these.
Ah from back in the day when we actually manufactured something, those were the days.
Not exactly as these Y class locomotives were designed by English Electric and constructed by the Tasmanian Government Railways' Inveresk Workshops. Much the same in Australia to mate not much made here anymore we just dig up resources and ship it to China mostly to be made into something. :(
Same in the UK, even cars now are mostly assembly, not manufacture in the UK.
What a wonderful looking old train. Is it on priv prop or just disused?
It is owned by the Don River Railway society and is stuck out the back of there compound so anyone can just walk right up to it.

Sure has mate i think it is just used as spare parts now.
