This F7A diesel-electric locomotive was built in 1951 by General Motors-E,M,D,. La Grange Illinois USA. Western Pacific Railroad Company USA sold the locomotive to Mt Newman Mining Australia in 1967.
Locomotive 5451 was used in construction of the 450 kilometer Mt Whaleback to Port Headland railway.
This locomotive was shipped from San Francisco with another F7A locomotive and 58 ore cars in december 1967.
Both locomotives were used in the building of the Mt Newman to Port Headland railway. On 8th of May 1968 the world track laying record was broken. In less then 12 hours, 7.25 kilometers of track was laid, spiked and anchored. The railway was completed on 22nd January 1969.
Looks like a swan on the front of the first one. Did it have a name?

Correct that is a black Swan the locomotive was only known as 5451.
Oh wow! How awesome is this train. Is it set up to go on or just display? Can you actually get inside it?
It is a static display and no you can not get on it :(
