Conservatives organize a trash clean up of Baltimore and get attacked by media for doing so

in #rant5 years ago (edited)

The media had already achieved a horrible reputation for journalistic integrity quite some time ago. Almost no one trusts what any major media outlet has to say anymore (less than 20%)

I am irritated by the MSM pretty much anytime that I bother to read / listen to anything they have to say.

That being said the reaction to the actions of nearly 200 people taking time out of their lives, for free, to clean up West Baltimore, is truly despicable.

You may recall that this part of the U.S. was hilighted in a recent Twitter can of worms that the President opened when he criticized Rep. Elijah Cummings for not looking after his own district. Almost immediately, images of this actually really terrible and very dirty part of the United States started to circulate and of course it started to be racist to call anywhere where a large group of non-white people live "dirty" even if it is.

A group of volunteers descended on one of the poorest and dirtiest parts of Baltimore with their own trucks and own arms and legs and worked for free to do the job of the government for them.

It was organized by a man named Scott Pressler and he documented it himself on Twitter and circulated the images and also started a hashtag called #AmericansHelpingAmericans . While it is undeniable that this is definitely at least in part a promotional event for conservatives, at least they are out there doing something, right? Putting their time into something that actually helps someone else. I can applaud that, and it wouldn't matter to me who was organizing it. Mostly, i think it just points out the uselessness of government in the way that they are supposed to be doing this with the tax money that we are all forced to pay, but don't.

The liberal news outlets immediately tried to turn this into a bad thing.... That's right, volunteering your time to help other people that you do not know, is a BAD thing.

The Baltimore Sun, which is a newspaper, like most other paper newspapers, likely wont exist for much longer, went out of their way to try to paint the volunteers and "alt-right." I am sure they are trying to find some way to make this racist as well.

Scott Presler

Some outlets have gone as far as to suggest that organizer Scott Pressler is a white supremacist, which if that were true, he is one of the least effective white supremacists of all time. It would be like if Hitler invaded Poland, cleaned it up, and then left. How terrible!

It just goes to show that the media's interest in fueling the political fire completely outweighs their ability to exist as any sort of journalism. No good deed shall go unpunished.

Thankfully, this movement appears to be catching on as there has been some chatter about organizing similar events for other impoverished cities across the US. I hope the media can get it right the next time!

The media, which has become an entity at the service of politicians, looks to me like a story I know up close!

aint that the truth! It was probably always this way but man oh man is it so obvious that this is the case now.

Wow, that is pretty stupid. I guess most places are going to spin the news the way they want, but it is pretty shameful to cast that kind of doubt on people that are trying to help out. It is pretty easy to see why most people just mind their own business and do nothing. If you help out you are bad, if you do nothing you are bad, so why not take the path of least effort!

Oh my god I cant belive that some parts of the US have a trash problem.

to be fair most of it doesn't. Urban areas, espeialy very poor ones, are much more likely to have this issue.

That was a huge garbage there,i was amaze and i really appreciate those volunteers who truely help to clean those dirty garbages.

Government can't see the situations outside of their Cities if they always set down on their comfortable chair. They need to do some on field check to see whats happening outside of their responsible cities.

A good example of good governance New Mayor of Metro Manila Philippines.

An essential part of loving a home, a neighborhood, a city or a country is to keep it clean and organized. It is not good for the image of America to show the urban decay of certain cities.

The biased approached of the MSM has uncovered that they really work for an elite which want us divided.
