Today is #rapthursday day by @flipstar, and although hip-hop is not the musical style that I understand the most, I want to contribute to the #worldofhiphop map. I noticed that there are no Portuguese Hip-Hop artists on the map. So from time to time I'm going to participate with Portuguese artists posts. One of the Portuguese Hip-Hop bands that I like the most is Dealema. Many years ago my sister dated a guy who was a fan of this and other Hip-Hop bands. The first contact I had with Portuguese Hip-Hop was because of him. But I didn't liked Portuguese Hip-Hop because the lyrics were really aggressive and always about comparing skills and about the thug life. After some time I ended up liking and understanding it after being introduced to Dealema.
What always attracted me in this band was the lyrics, always sharp and critical about Portuguese society, but with a metaphysical touch. More than lyrics they write fierce poetry. Also the accent from the north of Portugal is amazing... Can't say I like everything, I particularly like the first two albums and one or other track from the others, the ones with heavy beats and fierce lyrics 😎

DEALEMA - ANATOMIA DO ESPÍRITO

In addition to the powerful lyrics, there are musical elements that inspire me, like the super creative sampling where they grab old Portuguese songs, or movie sampling like the one they did with the The Ren & Stimpy Show.

DEALEMA - O COMEÇO

Dealema - Para Putos e Putas (Fuse & Bomberjack)

Dealema are representing Portuguese Hip Hop since 1996, making them are one of the oldest Portuguese Hip-Hop groups, with members from Gaia and Porto city.
They started with the merger of two Factor X projects (Mundo and Dj Guze) and Fullashit (Fuse and Expeão), but they met the "5th element" Maze, and together they formed Dealema.

With an already extensive musical career, 6 albums and numerous collaborations, they have a solid base of followers, which has been growing in recent years, not only in Portugal, but in other Portuguese-speaking countries.

Full ALbum
EXPRESSO DO SUBMUNDO (EXPRESS FROM THE SUB-WORLD) 1996
Between rhymes and beats, the first work of the Dealema, the mythical "Expresso do Submundo" is born. A collector's work that is part of the history of hip-hop in Portugal and which was recently reissued in K7 format, a gift to fans who never had commercial access to this album.

DEALEMA 2003
It follows the homonymous album, edited by North South, that snatched the critic and the public showing that after all the hip-hop can also be expressed in Portuguese, with sharp tongue and heavy beats. In that year, the media adventure of Dealema began. They were the cover of many magazines and played in the biggest music festivals in Portugal.

V IMPÉRIO (V EMPIRE) 2008
Unrelated to publishing and now more independent than ever, they come with "V Império", an album that came to confirm cult band status, consolidating the Porto / Gaia axis as the nation of hip-hop in Portugal. Some of Dealema's greatest hymns are still part of this record, and are still played live today in many of the band's concerts.

ARTE DE VIVER (ART OF LIVING) 2010
At the invitation of radio broadcaster and music programmer Henrique Amaro, they join in a successful partnership with NOS Discos, editing the EP "Arte de Viver". In this disc they begin to glimpse some rays of light that foresee a "Alvorada Da Alma" to be edited.

A GRANDE TRIBULAÇÃO (THE GREAT TRIBULATION) 2011

The Dealema return to heavy beats and the blackest lyric with "A GRANDE TRIBULAÇÃO" In this disc the pentagon paints the screen of the pre-apocalyptic moment that hangs over the humanity. As always his message intends directly to provoke in the listener concrete feelings having as a vehicle the poetry and environments loaded with intensity.

The "Dawn of the Soul" arrives in stores, which is a return to the origins, where it all began, to the passion for music from the first moment to what it represents today. The work has for the first time 12 guests, some of them international names of the hip-hop scene and others coming from musical universes other than rap, denouncing a sound diversity that was consecrated great.
