Summer is coming to an end... And it's been a busy one!
I wanted to apologize for not having been very present in the steem community these last few weeks!!! There was a time when I posted almost every day but now it seems to be once a week if I'm lucky!
I will be back on track soon for sure but not quite just yet... We are going to France to help my father with his move and we still have to build a small barn for the trailer so we can keep warm this winter to avoid renting an apartment. As you can see, besides your typical constant off-grid fixes and improvments there is to be done, we are busy!
Finally started our recycling center:
We have been collecting bottles to use as building material in the future!!! Make things pretty and all that.
Yesterday we managed to finish another small structure just like that one for all the outside toys for the kids. And than there's the garden... apparently we are growing food for the groundhog but he seems to leave us the zucchini and the peppers. I did learn however, that he loves broccoli, red cabbage and kale!!!
I barely have time to interact with my favorite communities on the steem blockchain, but we are enjoying creating a life in the woods and as we progress into building the infrastructure for this neo-tribal village, you will see more of me and this Land of Dreams!!!

A neo-tribal village? I need to read more about your work and philosophy up there. :) Looking forward to the time when you can post more often! I've been on a bit of a hiatus myself.
Neo-Tribalism... I'm not really sure who coined the term, but I heard it first from the Rewild Yourself podcast.
For me it means to implement certain wisdoms (community, nutrition and governance) from the past that were found in pre-agriculture hunter/gatherer groups while still embracing modern discoveries that fit within the concept of living more naturally...

Ah Spain!!!! I would love to but I think we will be juggling time and money... we also want to see the family in England.
Thanks, I am a little impatient with building the community, but I hold back because I want it to grow organically. I see our intentions growing stronger if we let them come i to play as more people want to join this lifeway. We also want to stay open to changes! I think because of this, it seems to grow so very slowly... but I remind myself, it'll come when it comes.

Not yet really... we were just talkong about developing a website just for that. We'reworkong on it.
Always LOVELY to see the important value reflected across steem - that LIFE is more important than posting about it! Take all the tie you need. And yes, posting shorter, via instagram and hooking it to steem is great. No one said every post needs to be an essay.... :)

You can integrate a footer into your share2steem posts, and you can update it as the quote changes :)

Yeah it has a bit of an aquired taste maybe... a little tart or just not as sweet as say, a plump blackberry, but it leaves a wonderfull flower essence kind of after taste that I like.

I've never heard of thimble berry. What a pretty bush! You sound about as busy as we are here at Kindred Acres. It's all so worth it though, isn't it?? ;) Don't forget to take a few quiet moments for yourself though. Just enough time for a few deep breaths. It's important.
Yes definitely worth it, I feel alive you know, really alive!!! We're even trying to eat tons of wild foods... just finished off the last bit of chicken of the woods from an early spring flush!!!

Yes! I totally understand and appreciate that feeling. I feel that every morning when I get out to the food forest. It's so peaceful in the early morning hours and it just feels so amazing. As for wild foods, I really want to gain my confidence in this area. I can ID some basic mushrooms like reishi and chicken of the woods and even though I know for sure it is what it is, I'm still to chicken (pun intended teheh) to eat them!! I think I need to find myself a local wild expert to mentor me. I have 3.5 acres and a good bit of it is wooded. There is all kinds of wild food out there I know I'm just missing out on!
I have only been eating mushrooms that do not have a deadly look-alike for now, I started with black trumpets last year 😁, but like you, I do not want to venture very far into the world of fungi without an expert mentor!
As far as other wild foods in the forest and it's edges, knowing what can be eaten in my earea is part of our "prepper strategy". I figure we could stow away a lot of canned foods and all that but in the end the wild food when it is available is a bit like a hidden food pantry only so many know about.
Definitely! Free food and wild (typically more nutrient-dense) is the way to go! Certainly something I need to study more. Thanks for the inspiration!
