GOD's NOT DEAD - movie review

God is not dead, an American Christian drama film was released on 14th, March 2014 by pure flix entertainment. It was acted basing on the book God’s Not Dead by Rice Brooks. We are living in a world where some people think that there is no God and they try as much as possible to exclude God from their knowledge and daily interactions. Who can dare contend with God? No matter how much human beings can think in trying to explain away God, the conclusion remains that God does exist because whatever he has created showcases his presence.

The movie summary
The movie starts off when an evangelical college student by the name Josh, enrolls in a philosophy class taught by Professor Jeffrey Radisson, an atheist. The professor demands all his students to sign a declaration that "God is dead" in order for them to pass. Josh was the only student who disagreed by refusing to sign. Professor Radisson reacts to Josh’s defiance by requiring him to debate the topic with him but agrees to let the class members decide the winner. Josh was chucked by his girl-friend for insisting on confessing his belief in God due to her fears that debating with the academic professor was something that was going to jeopardize their academic future.

Josh is given 20 minutes by Radisson at the end of the first three lecture sessions to argue that God exists. In the first 2 sessions, Josh presents his evidence showcasing that God created the universe and also argues that macroevolution is not a solid theory as it is usually presented. Radisson has various counter-arguments with Josh in the first 2 sessions that run down to the final session where Josh twice pauses a question to Radisson “why he hates God.” “My mother died despite the prayers I had made for her to God,” said the Professor out of rage and anger.

The debate comes to a conclusion when Josh casually asks Radisson how he can hate the God who does not exist. One of the Student Martin stands up and confesses his agreement with Josh that God is not dead who is followed by other students and then winds up when the professor is defeated and leaves the class.
Josh and Martin together with his friends head to a concert of the Newsboys. These sing a special Song entitled God’s Not dead dedicating to Josh for the victory he had secured over the stiff persecution of his professor in college.
The professor finally confessed Christ Jesus as his Lord and Savior on his death bed after having had a terrible accident.

My thoughts
Christians ought to stand and contend for their faith otherwise there are negative people about the knowledge of God who try as much as possible to impose their ignorance of God on the ones who have received that enlightenment. This movie is for Christians who are facing persecutions on the account of their faith in God.

Though this movie has received mostly negative reviews, it managed to cross from $2 million budget to $64 million showcasing that it’s a popular movie that has made rounds and rounds of viewership and support from the Christian media.

I have watched this movie 3 times. It’s a very interesting and very educative as it brings out the biblical truths such as the persecutions in this world and how we ought to respond to them boldly without fear of any man.

I recommend every Christian to watch this movie because surely encourages you most especially in line with persecutions of your faith.
