WAR ROOM - movie review

This is another exciting Christian movie by the Kendrick brothers. It Showcases a wealthy family with Characters such as Tony (TC Stalling) who is a father of Danielle(Alena Pitts) and a husband of Elizabeth (Priscilla Shirer). Tony had a great job earning 4 times salary than his Wife Elizabeth who is a real estate agent. Their marriage is in trouble as these undergo a great temptation of breaking up as seen in the movie exchanging words of disagreement and bitterness towards each other. Tony met up with another woman called Veronica, pushes out with her to a point of being tempted to sleep with her while he is on a business trip.

Elizabeth meets up with Miss Clara, one of her real estate client and a friendly person who is not just interested in making Business with Elizabeth but also concerned with what was transpiring in the life of Elizabeth. She hesitates to open up to her concerning whatever was transpiring in her life but later on as her friendship grows with Miss Clara she decides to open up to her concerning her failing marriage. Clara, being a Christian and a very prayerful woman shares her experience with Elizabeth, disciples her in the ways of the lord and wisely advises her to go into prayer for her marriage so that she deals with the root cause of the terrible situation that she is facing.

Elizabeth chooses to trust God under the discipleship and counsel of Miss Clara. She went into deep prayer for her family rebuking the enemy for playing around with her marriage. Eventually, things begin to shift as her husband gets humbled, realizes his mistakes repents to God to forgive him for being a bad husband and a bad father of his only daughter Danielle. He, unfortunately, gets fired from his Job who now gets so worried that he is no longer going to be able to afford the house they were living in.

Theses finally secure victory over the enemy as Tony genuinely repents to God for his sins and apologized to his wife and Daughter for the wrong conduct towards them. He gets back his Job and the family gets back in that perfect unity. Miss Clara rejoices for the goodness of God he has shown this couple that is after hearing the testimony from Elizabeth.

My thoughts
The failing marriage of Tony and Elizabeth brings us to an understanding that Life is not all about being physically wealthy for example having a very huge mansion, wife, beautiful children, a car and a good job but it goes deeper than that as a really wealthy person has to also be spiritually fit in order to maintain what he has because life is spiritual and there is an enemy of humanity, “the devil” who is ever fighting us to see that we fail in all that we do.

The Couple surrendered their situation to God by both of them deciding to go into prayer and eventually secure victory over the enemy where they had a turnaround and whatever evil plan the enemy had planned over them did not come to pass.

Repentance is key in this journey of Salvation. Human beings are not perfect beings as the bible says that there is no one who is righteous but all have fallen short of the Glory of God and need that redemption that in Christ Jesus. Tony Came to repentance after realizing his mistakes and decided to ask God for forgiveness. Christians need not be judgmental but give grace to those who are not walking perfectly with the lord.

As Christians and married people, we need to be persistent in loving our spouses despite the shortfalls that might arise in our marriages. This couple stayed together even when things were not working out. The stronger partner ought to stand in the gap for the weaker partner and that is the right reaction and attitude we all need to possess.

I give this movie a 4.8-star rating. It’s a must-watch by every married person who is facing challenges in their marriage. It has lots of lessons to pick up following the circumstances that befall this family and how they managed to secure victory in the end by believing and trusting God. The movie also upholds the moral standards and virtues of Christianity which make it a perfect and suitable movie for families to watch.
