Hand Rolled Chocolate Truffles: A Valentine's Day Recipe

in #recipe6 years ago (edited)

To celebrate Valentine's Day I have a super simple Chocolate Truffle recipe to share with you all.

This recipe takes next to no skill to make. So if you want to make your special partner something handmade, but you're not the best cook then do not despair because this recipe can be made by anybody.

This is also a very affordable recipe requiring very few ingredients. You won't be able to tell with the end product just how cheap or simple it is as well.

Let's get started.

Ingredients:

  • 200g of dark chocolate
  • 200ml of cooking or pouring cream
  • 3 heaped tablespoons of cocoa powder

Method:

  1. Pour your cooking cream into a saucepan and heat until it starts to boil.
  2. Break your chocolate into the smallest squares possible and place into a pudding bowl.
  3. Place your chocolate into a bowl. Make sure it's room temperature and not straight out of the fridge. If it is you can warm it up a little bit in the microwave for 1-2 mins.
  4. Once your cream is just about to boil pour the cream over chocolate and stir until the chocolate has completely melted and the mixture forms a smooth and shiny appearance.
  5. At this stage you could add in a shot of rum or brandy if you want but I left that out of my recipe.
  6. Once the mixture has cooled pour it into a plastic container and place in the freezer for 4 to 5 hours. Once it has been frozen the mixture should be solid but still malleable.
  7. Take another plastic container and place 2 heap tablespoons of cocoa powder in it. It's best to use a lunch container or food container that has a lid because it helps keep the cocoa powder in the container.
  8. Take a teaspoon and run it through the truffle mixture until you have a ball of truffle mixture.
  9. Then with your hands flat and fingers pointing 90 degrees to each other roll the truffle mixture light between the palms of your hands to form a ball.
  10. Once you have a nice round ball of truffle mixture press it into a cylindrical shape and place it into the container with the cocoa powder.
  11. Roll the ball around in the container until it is coated with cocoa powder.
  12. Repeat steps 8 to 11 until all the mixture has been rolled.

And here are the final results!

Thanks, I hope you all enjoyed this one. It's not just for Valentine's Day. You can also make these and use them to decorate chocolate cakes or cupcakes to jazz them up.
