AWESOME Juice Recipe - Recreated/Improved 'Savse Super Blue Smoothie' Recipe - with Organic, Fresh Ingredients. :)

in #recipe6 years ago (edited)

One of my favourite things to do is experiment with juice and smoothie recipes, but I don't do it nearly as much as I'd like. Recently I've been at home less, so I've been forced to buy more commercial juices and smoothies while out and some I've found that I like are made by 'Savse', today I remade one of their recipes using fresh, organic ingredients at home and making a switch that actually improved the flavour... The result was surprisingly amazingly much better than the store bought version!

I was inspired to do this partially because the Savse range includes the percentages of each of the ingredients they use to create their products, so we can easily reproduce them at home... Now we can benefit from all the trial and error of the fruit blending pros - without putting in all the hard work! :)

I will make some more from their range soon, no doubt.

The recipe for this is simple, but what will make the difference is sourcing the highest quality ingredients that you can (And using a good juicer or smoothie maker). The best option would be to grow your own produce from seed, using totally organic processes - but depending on your location and the time of year, that may not be possible... So just do the best you can!

Ingredients

The ingredients are actually in the form of percentages, so you can just take them and adapt them to whatever quantity you want to make - nice!

I switched out Blackcurrants and used Blackberries instead because I didn't have blackcurrants, but the result is actually a great improvement over the original.

Apple - 50%
Blackberries (Original recipe used Blackcurrants) - 15%
Orange - 15%
Strawberry - 10%
Blueberry - 8%
Beetroot - 4%
Kale - 2%
Spinach - 2%

Method

To make this is pretty simple, just feed all the ingredients into your blender and turn it on - blending until the mix is as you prefer it to be. I actually made a juice version of this drink, rather than a smoothie - so I used a juicer and fed in the soft and hard ingredients in an alternating way to ensure that the softer ones are pushed through by the harder ones.

Coming out of the juicer

That's it! The result is a really great, fruity blend that I have not tasted anywhere before. :)

Drink and Enjoy!

Looks delicious. One for the nutribullet for sure. Although I'd probably quadruple the greens and add in some wheatgrass powder and and teaspoon of lindseeds ('cos that's the law.)

You can also reproduce Nakd bars as they also put percentages - just weigh, finely chop, n squidge together - then wrap in foil and I've found freezing works.

Not the same texture but flavour is spot on!

Yeah, more greens would probably be fine - I will experiment with that next time. I usually put linseeds into my morning smoothie or cereal, so no need for them here ;)

Thanks for the tip about nakd bars - I'll definitely play with that too.. Making organic versions of non organic store products is a great way for me to blend convenience with creativity. :)

Fair play on the linseeds, you don't want too many nuts/ seeds in there.

On the greens in smoothies thing - I just tend to use the smoothie as a vessel into which I can pile in as many as I can, the challenge being to not let the thing turn brown (I really can't stand that!) which of makes using anything red a problem.

So maybe I should switch to two a day... one fruitastic and the other 'green vessel'...

It's also making me just want to get properly settled down with a huge garden/ allotment and get growing all of this stuff to pile into said smoothies!

hehe - oh yeah, a fruit farm with lots of greens would be a truly amazing way to live. :)
i agree about the brown issue - you can usually pull the brown back with enough blue coloured berries, but then it will be a deep purple, which may not be the most appetising either.

two a day might be the answer, it's easy to do - especially when the weather is hot as it is here now.

Purple I can live with. This is all temporarily moot for me while I wait to move house. My fridge freezer broke about a month ago, and I just can't see the point in buying another one until I move. This, however, means no ice.

It may be a thing.... a room temperature smoothie, but it ain't my thing!

Hey ura-soul that looks delicious!! I'm also a huge fan of smoothie experimentation and this beauty is going straight to the top of my list. I've been adding stinging nettles to my smoothies recently .. from spring onwards they are part of my essetial ingrediants .. plus I've been meaning to collect more dandelion roots. I would also really like to get into making tinctures and medicines from locally growing plants/weeds etc etc. I'm now off to make a smoothie ;)

Great! Check out the video I just resteemed from Clive De Carl for more on the 'weed' and 'bitters' issue ;)

I've been transitioning to a vegan diet and have been incorporating more and more fruit. I have been looking for new ways to eat it and this is a great idea. Fresh and healthy. Following along for more :)

Good choice! In case you are unaware, the smoothies are a better option than juices typically, since they are absorbed more slowly into the body and don't cause such a sugar spike.

Seeing the picture of juice fill my mouth with water.

Hi,
I'm a nutritionist. Good you is this smoothie.
I read your presentation and I really like it.
Now I will vote for you as a witness.

The correction is over.

No problem, thanks - the vote is now logged. Followed!

I'm always up for a good juice or smoothie too! I bet your taste even better than the store-bought one you based the recipe on!

Yes, it does actually taste 100 times better! I was quite amazed!

I can tell the juice is going to be tasty and healthy.

Another benefit of home made is that they are always free from additive.
Nothing better than taking them fresh.

Finishing the recipe without sending mine is a crime punishable under the law..... Smile

Hehe, well, I don't try to put juices into my computer any more - I have already proved that I cannot email drinks across the web. :)

Hahahaha.... Very funny.

But, do you know you have actually paid for the juice, the upvote you gave is enough to buy at least one apple.... Lol
I hereby withdraw the case, you have no case to answer again..

Thanks so much😁😁😁😁

you are welcome, have another one! ;0)

Yay! Thanks so much, you don't know what it mean to me... Smile
