Ponderings on Regulation in Blockchain Space

in #regulation6 years ago (edited)

People pretend regulatory bodies are needed in order to keep autonomous entities from behaving out of line with the standards of humanity, standards defined by norms emerging from a consensus we arrived at through conversation and debate, but in a world where certainty is taxed by death, scrutiny, and disbelief-- despite the democratization of a nation's electoral or decision making process, they all, being one body, in effect, serve one master, one reality, one kingdom, and having one head, share one perception of life's overarching ideal and to them, that one ideal is that they, "the strong", continue as they are, established as iron over the clay in order to ensure that not even the strongest of all the weak would ever be able to subject anyone to themselves against their will. Encouraging power but being weary of force, we're simply not trusting the weaknesses the weak people have so as to endow them with more strength, and so we try to prevent him, the man we call weak, the one who is not associated with our own source of strength, from ever exercising his will independently because of the inspiring way that it affects the weak. The impressionable and the weak, in seeing the strength of one not unlike themselves, come to now likewise believe in the strength of one of their own, which is a strength that is their own. That liberty founds a new establishment in man to which he devotes himself freely, of his own accord. That new standard will always be to the detriment of the former establishment from which the sense of our righteousness had been derived, and so the balance of power shifts from those who remain in the old order, to those who harness the new. We don't like imbalanced scales, nor are we ignorant of the intents of those who excuse such measures and teach others to do the same. They know not what they do, but maintaining and enforcing uniformity is the objective of their official positions, because they are serving what to them are the imperishable vitals of their institution. Weak people want to see it as a threat, but the story they tell themselves about how risky it is comes from their own fear of loss, and not from any of the purposes or ideas defining crypto-currency or the block-chain space.
