Galatians 6:10 (NIV)
10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
And this is my favourite verse:
Acts 10:38 (NIV)
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
We need to do well with others and they don’t have to earn it or deserve it before we can. We should always allow goodness to spring forth from us. I can only imagine the goodness in the heart of the paralyzed man that would make his friends go through this ordeal for him. He must have been a good person too. If he didn’t have these loyal and good friends, he would have stayed in that condition longer than he had.
1 Peter 2:17 tells us to show proper respect to everyone. A lot of times we overlook people; thinking they have nothing to offer us or judging their end result based on their present state. We need to show respect and honour to everyone we come across. That person you think is of no value today might be of worth tomorrow. Honour all men. It takes nothing from you. It doesn’t reduce your age nor deduct from your account balance. Just do your part and give respect to everyone regardless of their state. When you respect others, regardless of their age or state, you will gain their respect too.
I know some people come out as unlovable and hard to love but we need to love them all the same. To get the best from people and also have people go through any length for you, you need to do good to everyone, honour and respect everyone and then love them. When you love only those who love you how are you any different from those who don’t love? We are to set the standard and do better than others. True love has no class barrier.
