Why do some islamist have problems with western education?

Meaning of Islam is submission and obedience. So, this religion demands complete submission from its followers towards Allah and reverence for its prophet Muhammad.

Islam has its own education system in which mainly religious education is imparted to children. Under Islamic education, emphasized is made on the study of the Koran and the Hadith (the sayings and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad). Islamic world is mainly governed by the Sharia laws which aim to build a society based on universal socio-religious order. Sharia Laws governs social, political and economic life of Muslims. Hence, they affect everything and every part of Islamic world.

Some Islamic group viz. Boko Haram sees the western education detrimental to the system maintained by the Islamic education. Western education preaches liberalism and makes people to think freely. Scientific outlook is the fundamental characteristics of the western education. It can make one atheist as well. These things are against the basic principles of Islam as the basic concept of Islam is the full submission towards Allah. It is fundamental for every Muslim to follow whatever is written in the Koran and Hadith. Modern scientific attitude and Islamic teaching cannot go with each other. Science teaches that the universe was created with the Big Bang and creatures developed in their present forms because of evolution. Science teaches us skepticism and makes us unbelievers. While Islam believes that Allah created the world and all humans are progeny of Adam and Eve who once lived in the heaven. According to Islamic view, earth is flat.

So, it is clear that both have the exact opposite viewpoints in many matters. Western education also teaches economics which aims on profit maximizing. Economics support banks and the system of taking interest on loans and savings. But, it is a sin to receive interest in Islam. There is also a big reason. Western education mainly preaches about this world. It is secular and doesn’t care for the religious sentiments of the people.   These Islamic groups also believe that the western education is destroying their social, religious and cultural values.  So, these are the reasons that some Islamic groups have problems with the western education.

PS: Every religion creates a distinct education system to some extent. Social, cultural and economic outlook of societies are also determined by religions. So, Islam is not an exception. It is thought that Islam preaches fundamentalism but it doesn't mean that other religions are free of this vice. More or less, they are same. However, others changed according to the modern values but Islamic world is reacting aggressively to these changed.
