Isaiah 1:12-17, NLT:-

12 When you come to worship me, who asked you to parade through my courts with all your ceremony?
13 Stop bringing me your meaningless gifts; the incense of your offerings disgusts me!
As for your celebrations of the new moon and the Sabbath and your special days for fasting— they are all sinful and false. I want no more of your pious meetings.
14 I hate your new moon celebrations and your annual festivals. They are a burden to me. I cannot stand them!
15 When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.
16 Wash yourselves and be clean! Get your sins out of my sight. Give up your evil ways.
17 Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.

The Message:
Many people desire to have a smooth relationship with God. Many of us look up to some powerful men of God and we wish to be like them. One major thing that hinders our fellowship with God is sin. Many lives and hearts have been stained by sin. Today’s passage made it clear that anyone with a sinful heart cannot do anything to please God. When we live in sin, all our sacrifices and offerings can never be acceptable to God. Sin must be dealt with in our lives. We must purge ourselves and break our fallow ground. Minute issues of life and character must be addressed.
Not everyone can ascend the hill of the Lord and dwell in His holy place. God requires clean hands and a pure heart. Purity of heart is a crucial pre-requisite for anyone to stand before God. Our hearts must be purged of self and impurities. The Scripture says in Matt. 5:8 “ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God ”. If we desire to see God in any area of our lives, then we must be ready to turn away from everything that looks sinful and remove every wicked act from us. Then we can sincerely seek the face of God and enjoy his presence.
