Game of Thrones EP 05 Season 8 Review - Critical, dramatic and literary analysis (SPOILER ALERT)

in #review5 years ago (edited)

Dear colleagues of the Seven Kingdoms!

Do not know how long I longed to see the EP 05 of the current season, an incredible and unpredictable outcome occurred in many aspects, therefore, I wanted to argue in a Steemit post, in this way, to share it with you and know your opinions about.

I must say very cautiously SPOILER ALERT, if you have not seen the last episode, or if you are not up to date with the series, then do not read the review, because it will be loaded with many important and speculative details. I will make an explanation of the penultimate episode, supporting myself under a critical, dramatic and literary interpretation, touching fundamental points of it, I hope it is to your liking.

EP 05 - Season 8

1. The death of Varys:

Please, do not tell me you did not anticipate it; since the previous chapter Game Of Thrones is sending us too many reasons why I was going to die. No doubt a character with enough influence, wisdom and actions, better known as "the master of whispers", who opted for a better bidder (Jon Snow), at a time not appropriate, accused of treason.

His death has impacted the hearts of fans, not only was a counselor, but an experienced character who knew the seven kingdoms and defended in his interpretation the will of the people. He was the first to convince himself of the change in personality that Daenerys would choose, and certainly, he was not wrong, beating Tyrion in approximations.

I must say, that Varys the Spider, as a good master of the influence on Westeros, perhaps we have not seen his last letter ...

2. The Mad Queen: The change of Daenerys

This part has affected many, some had anticipated in previous episodes with certain behaviors of the character, however, other followers of the series corroborate the personality since the beginning of the series, to be known as "a radical woman, which, does not care what you should or should not do to reach your goal", in this case, the iron throne and a certain portion of revenge against the Lannister.

After losing another of his dragons, part of his army and his impossible love Jorah Mormont, Daenerys revealed a sample of his true personality, with the right to be nicknamed, daughter of his father, rather, daughter of the mad king.

3. The death of Cersei and Jaime Lannister

We can say that it was based on Shakespearean irony, obviously the creator of the novel is a literary connoisseur, we can appreciate how they die with the love they always swore, it was romantic, it was poetic, and it certainly was not the end we all wanted for Cersei or lovers of the redeemed Jaime, but the series should not be based on fanaticism.

It is true that we wanted a pretty epic ending for the villain with the best reputation, surpassing in expectations the Dark King, however, the closure that was granted was not bad. "It was poetic, romantic and melancholic", nothing that people thought with minute theories that involved Jaime killing Cersei, or Arya killing Cersei. On the contrary, the end of these characters demonstrated what always resonated their relationship, a love that existed for them only, and that would not disappear.

4. Redemption of Jaime Lannister

The same character that we talked about in the previous point, is represented as an anti-hero, always was; we understand that he had a word and honor after all, but, it was not like many people think a "good man", because there is no complete meaning of what it means to be "good" in this series, let's say he exclusively did what he considered correct .

He never fell deeply in love with Brienne, he only felt kindness and love, but not love.

4. The confrontation of Sandor Clegane against Gregor Clegane (The Dog against the Mountain)

It has perhaps been the part most appreciated by the followers, and of course I agree. In my opinion they made an incredible sample of how revenge consumes you suddenly, to a point where you do not mind dying to achieve the task.

In the confrontation, little interested them if Cersei escaped or if Daenerys burned them, their time was them, the rest had no relevance. A mercenary against a half-immortal zombie soldier (What madness is not?) Is a rather atypical confrontation, but necessary.

I know, we all took hold of Sandor Clegane, but he was not exactly the best guy, his fate was proclaimed and we all knew what the imminent outcome of the fight would be.

5. The mistake of Jon Snow

We have to say that Varys acted very quickly without having given a convincing show to Jon, and we talked about the man who loves her blindly, who did not hesitate to support her until he stumbled against the wall, The whispering teacher was always right, but it was not the moment to say it. Let's say that their romance cost the lives of many innocents, "the cost does not justify the means".

It is nothing less than the legitimate heir to the Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, a fairly honorable and traditionalist man, but with a faith that violated his army and implied the fate of many. It is likely that we see a reaction of Jon Snow in the face of what happened, and perhaps this character will finally sit down in the position he deserves.

We will leave the uncertainty of a possible unforeseen death

NOTE: They did not launch the series overboard, they are faithful to the history they have and have built, and what followers want or crave, clearly they are worth less than nothing, which I find excellent.

Extra: Cinematographically it presented too many errors, dialogues, approaches, plans and dimensions. It is not an issue that everyone is competent or motivated, but in the case is unquestionable. We can even see how the kings hand is regenerated in different points of the camera, before his death (A FATAL ERROR) but even the best series in the world can be wrong.

We will continue our hope in the character that will raise the low critics and that will change all the remaining suspicion of the plot, Arya Stark.

Without further ado, another lover of Westeros says goodbye ...

I have always admired the work you do, maybe (from my point of view) they are the best mixed community Steemit has. Therefore, I can say that with enough care and detail I managed to get your vote, this is something that will remain very much within me as a goal fulfilled, knowing that Curie reads you is not a game for children, but a wonderful opportunity.

Thank you for doing so much on the net, thank you for reading my publication among so many, thank you for being the reason on which many base their writings, and mainly, thanks for filling in light wherever they go, they are especially people with true opinion , just and correct, as the reins of the web should be directed. @curie

Finally, someone posted about GOT in the steemit and I love it. Thank you for this wonderful post.

First and foremost, as a die-hard follower of GOT, I am not that surprised, knowing that many will die eventually as the series will come to an end. It is already expected and always a part of the plot. I think this will be a long comment as well because I think I have lots to say, so please bear with me.

Varys, is one of the important characters to date in Game of Thrones. Many viewers will say he is insignificant especially those who just viewed the series recently and failed to analyze the tv show deeper. He seems to be unpredictable because we all seen him from the first season, and has been changing sides from one ruler to another. Later, we knew that his exploits are based on his loyalty, not for the ruler itself but for the entire realm of Westeros. So as expected, he will do anything to protect the kingdom and its people. I don't know if you have read the book but, he played a major role there, on which also influenced my perception about him. Unfortunately, some plots were not included in the TV adaptation. By the way, I just read an article about him recently pertaining to the latest episode, and that really caught me off guard so allow me to ask you, did you know that Varys tried to kill Daenerys in that episode? It is not brought into the spotlight but from the clue, you will know that he is into something. Feel free to comment back where is that part of the episode. If you don't know it yet, you will also be surprised if I share it with you later.

I already knew something will happen like that to Daenerys, especially when seeing the previous episode and looking to her face, full of hatred after his best friend and dragon were killed ruthlessly. I know something horrible will happen and that is to be expected. I am just disappointed that it happened to her, it is like her ambition to rule the Iron Throne clouds her judgment and only listens to her own belief. She is paranoid of everyone around her. She could be compassionate but chooses to be a tyrant to be feared by her enemies. Even knowing she is not the true heir but Jon Snow, she even persuaded him not to tell anyone and it is one of the reasons why I hated her character now. I already have my thoughts what would happen to her in the last episode, but I think I will just keep it to myself for now. Haha

Ultimately, I really like how Jamie portrayed his love even up to his last breath. That really reminds me of the quote, "Love is blind". He knows how evil her sister and lover was, but still chose to go to her and hope to save her because there is no more important than anything in the world for him rather than Cersei. I know we can all relate to him because somewhere in our lives, we all want to be a "Jamie" to give all our love to a certain "Cersei" of our lifetime.

I think that's all for the moment. Feel free to share your thoughts about it. Indeed, I am ecstatic now knowing that someone shares the same interest with me and that is the love for GOT. Kudos my friend!

This review of the episode five of this season of game of throne is very detailed. I saw the episode and found interesting the last message that Varys burnt just before its capture. This information will have huge impact on characters on the show. Also, the Iron Bank still have control of the monetary system in the seven kingdoms. It will be interesting to unravel this negotiation between both power in the show.
Peace

It's a very nice and kind review, I must say. At this point I've seen the last and final episode but I'm not going to disclose any info about it as I'm not sure if you've seen it or not.
The death of Cersei and Jaime Lannister - It was romantic if you wish but it was far from what we were expecting. I can only speak for myself but I was expecting a big fight between Cersey and the others against her. Her death was to easy.
The Mad Queen: The change of Daenerys - You're right, she went through a huge transformation and not in a good way. What she did was unforgivable.
Redemption of Jaime Lannister- Jamie was a huge disappointment, I was expecting more from him and he did exactly what I don't like. I expect people to keep their word no matter what.
The mistake of Jon Snow - Yes, he made a huge mistake, everyone was expecting him to do a totally different thing but the screenwriters decided this is his faith.
I'm not saying I'm disappointed and also not hoping for an alternative ending as many, who are signing petitions, I can accept what's happened, it's just that I was expecting something else.
Anyway, I still believe it was a great show.
